|
|
I sent in a copy of my background check to my contact at the school. I got mine done through the bureau of criminal apprehension which is where my local police station told me to go. The guy at the school asks if I can get another more official looking one because the korean immigration office might reject it.
Where else can I get one if the official document doesn't look official enough? |

Acceptance has nothing to do with the 'looking official' status of the CRC.
Now in immigration the CRC MUST be a USA state check and signed by someone from the state authority, then Apostilled of course. If you provide a local police check or a web commercial check or a check from any other authority such as you may have done ,it will not be accepted. |

What's the difference between a local check and a state check? They both provide the same information. Just curious. |

A local check is only done for your county. The state check is for the entire state that you live in. The Korean government used to accept local checks but they don't anymore. You will have to get at least a state check or you will be wasting your time and money. Try checking the website of the Bureau of Investigation for your state. You may be able to order your cbc online. |

The BCA is the state check. I went to my local police station and they sent me to the BCA. It actually says on the document that "this does not include information that may be found on city or county levels." |

My local police station sent me to the bureau of criminal apprehension to do my state check. this is the one I have. The Korean school doesn't think it looks official enough. I don't think there is another place in my state that is authorized to do an official cbc for me. |
