|
|
I have my hagwon boss's agreement to go ahead and find a part time job. I want to do this legally. I know what the application process is when applying to immigration and have no problem doing the paperwork myself.
I realize some schools only want F2's because of much less paperwork and complications. What are the schools that would employ a PT E-2 on a legal basis? My preference is an adult hagwon for an evening shift, but I'm flexible.
Maybe someone here who's done this successfully before can provide some pointers? Thanks. |

i was recently told by an immigration officer that an e2 holder working at a hagwon can't legally work at another hagwon. even if you get all the required documents that immigration say you need for a 2nd job.
your second job has to be at a public school, private school (apparently hagwon is not private school) or university or government office etc. not a hagwon.
i was certain this wasn't the case, as there is nothing on the immigration website that states these specifics (in english anyway), but that's what the immigration officer told me (the guy works in the suwon office) |

Hagwon doesn't equal private school? I have definitely heard of E2s doing legal PT work, and I know ultimately it is up to the immigration officer reviewing the request to approve it. |

I work at an adult hagwon at night and then they gave me permission to add a second school to my visa. I was able to find a public high school that needed a part timer and added that.
As far as I know, you have to have one private school and one public school. You can't have two of either. |

Last time I checked (1 year ago) E2's could have up to two permissions.
There are conditions; the E2 job had to be bigger than the others, hours did not overlap, immi and E2 owner approval. |

I did it a few years ago. Things might've changed but here were the arbitrary rules at the time:
- only two workplaces may be added.
- extra jobs must be at a public school or university.
- extra jobs must be less hours than primary job.
- extra jobs must pay less than primary job.
You've gotta bring a whole truckload of documents too, although I don't even remember all of them. |

Same same renewal at PS (in my province). My co-teacher got nervous last time -
CT: "Why you have gong-gong-chil bag?"
CM: "Because I'm going to Immigration."
CT: "Oh... I see. What will you do?"
CM: "I will give the officer all these papers, a passport-sized picture, p'al-ship won and cross my fingers.
CT: "So you have much papers?"
CM: "Uhhh..... yes... see... I'm putting them in my briefcase."
CT: "Briefcase?"
CM: "Gong-gong-chil bag."
CT: "Oh... I see. Do you need my help."
CM: "No... it's Ok... kamsa-ham-ni-da.
CT: "You are very handsome."
CM: "Only because I'm dressed up... and you seem to think I'm James Bond." |
