Does anyone know of any banks or places to exchange money in Seoul open on Saturdays? I have no KRW left and no bank account yet. Please help. Thanks so much! |

Korean banks are never open on Saturdays. So, you basically have two choices.
(1) Withdraw money from your bank account back home by going to an ATM machine. Note that not all Korean ATMs accept foreign debit cards. The Korean Citibank ATMs should work for sure as I used them a few times when I first arrived in Korea.
(2) Call your boss and ask for an advance on your next paycheck. |

There is a third option..
You can find places in Seoul that exchange money on Saturdays and even Sundays too. You can bring whatever money you want to exchange to places in Itaewon for example.
There are a good few places there that will exchange money..
You can find these places near the Subway Exit by Coffee Bean/Coldstone..
They offer better exchange rates than banks too... There are Exchange Signs in English so you'll find easily enough..
Good luck |

No prob... The small convenience store directly opposite the Hamilton Hotel beside the ATM machine, by the pedestrian crossing provides currency exchange too..
Ive exchanged Euros there and they also they do US Dollars at least.. Probably other currencies too!
There really are plenty of places about anyway...If in any doubt ask someone around there.. If you can find the next street down that runs parallel to the main street too (where the food stalls are, phone shops) you may find better rates but anyway there wont be a huge diff and I'm sure u ll just be glad to get the money changed..
U'll be fine.. |

Going to the bank (as well as paying bills) is a legitimate reason for you to leave work during the times you're not teaching (if you work for a public school). |

Not sure about other countries, but at least in Canada the banks are starting to open later and offering services on Saturdays. While in Korea, maybe 10 years ago, all banks were open on Saturdays, but now banks are never opened on Saturdays and they shut down at 5pm.
Anyways, try an airport, Kimpo, if you're really in a jam. |
