I put in my 6 weeks notice. I will go back to Canada and get a new e2 visa. However, I read your recruiter can submit your documents to Korean immi and then I can just do a visa run to Japan. Then, I can start working as the visa is processing (this sounds pretty sketchy)... But since my current school has to take some time to cancel my current visa, I really don't know if trying a visa run is a good idea. Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

I have not been in your situation. That being said, I can tell you that to work without the proper visa is illegal - it puts you in jeopardy and at the risk of blackmail. It would be very unwise.

You can have your current visa cancelled when you leave K-land by turning your ARC at the airport and insisting the Immi officer do it. Do not leave the wicket until you are sure it is done. They are human... can be lazy; and in general, don't care how their actions (or lack thereof) affect a foreigner in future.
