Having just spent 2 weeks on an island on the Philippines frequented by Koreans, I have to admit that I was appalled by the things I saw and heard about their behaviour in general. Don't get me wrong, Canadians, Americans and every other nation has the odd a-hole who gives himself and what he represents a bad name. However, this anti-Korean sentiment was upheld by the local Filipinos, tourists and foreigner business owners who lived on this island. Spitting everywhere, jumping back and almost running away when seeing a homeless dog, grunting and giving "yogi-yos" in the middle of a packed restaurant, the lack of English language ability, the treatment of the "girls" down there, laughing at people who were homeless, throwing money at waitresses when they did not like the service etc. You name it and chances are I may have witnessed it. The few Korean women who were there at least made an effort to be courteous. However, being a place that serviced divers and the "disco" enthusiast, there were numerous Korean men there. One Korean who I met and works there said often he says he is from anywhere but Korea as he is too embarrassed by the behaviour displayed to admit to such. Some Koreans wonder why they have a bad image abroad and some people stay well clear of them and won't have their business. Witness what I did and it's no bloody wonder. Having come back a few days ago I am having a really hard time getting used to this place once more. |

They had similar attitudes to Koreans in Sihanoukville, Cambodia although the number of Koreans there wasn't all that large. |

How can this be true!? Koreans are the kindest and most respectful people on the planet!! Have you not heard, or seen Korea, PRIDE OF ASIA! Other Asians must be very honored to have tourists from the magical PRIDE OF ASIA country visiting their humble lands! Do not the indigenous villagers, from lands other then the PRIDE OF ASIA, weep with delight when a proud Korean tourist graces their humble country????? |

It is funny how even a short trip out of the country, makes you forget the bull going down in this country and how it is shocking again when you re-enter. Had the same feeling after I came back from Hongkong once.... |

its so dammmm obvious that Korean attitudes and behavior in general sucks to high heaven, - the Korea defenders/apologists are blatantly in a mind-over-matter, untenable positon.
Virtually every other nationality I've mentioned koreans to, have been disparaging of them...The entire rest of the world can't be wrong. |

Sounds like Boracay...
I once sat around a dinner table with people of about 8 or nine different nationalities and just listened to them RIP the Koreans. I didn't even say a word.
On the way back to Korea on Philippine Airlines, the flight attendant asked me why I was going to Korea. I told her I lived there. She looked at me and said 'I'm sorry'
My best moment on Boracay came while being introduced to a Korean dive shop owner. He knew I lived in Korea and was angry because I didn't bow to him. I smiled politely and said 'When in Rome, you must do as Romans do...This ain't Korea buddy" Boy, it felt good.
I wouldn't worry too much about how the blind drunk ajossis treat the women they take home though...most of them aren't women |

Did anyone else notice, all the people on this board who stand up for Koreans, all they ever say is something along the lines of 'It's not all of them', or 'You are overgeneralizing'. They don't deny this shit behaviour. In fact, it is so obvious that it exists, that it can't be denied.
I saw some Koreans in HK. I could understand their conversation, that's how I know they were Koreans. They did not do anything too bad that I saw. Just the normal discourteous thing, like talking on their handphone far too loud. Also the normal rushing to get off the airplane while it was landing. I never saw this kinda thing the OP wrote about, but for some reason, I believe it. Gee, I wonder why? |

Yes I agree that Koreans more or less suck (except for the women and the free stuff and easy gigs). But who cares. Lets hear about the Filipinas.. that'll be 1000 times more interesting. |

Well the hard core apologists have been here a while and are comitted to it as a life style, most have wives and so are connected to the society more than we are. They know they have to be here, so they develop selective consciousness, a logic sheild, blinkers, call it what you want. To be an apologist is to live in an alternate reality, to use the awsome power of the mind to pretend that something is a lot better than it is, in other words, self delusional.
Isn't that right Homer? |

I don't want to get excited about something I can't get into. If I were just about to go to the Philipines then I'd want to hear about Philipinas, but at any other time no. Same with strip bars, I don't get it. I don't want to pay extra money to get all hot and bothered about something I'm never gonna have ... |
