Have any of you tried studying Japanese or even a different langauge in Korea? I'm wondering where you could go to get such classes, (of at least decent quality) and wondering if they would be reasonably priced.

This Korean Academy has private lessons in Japanese. Maybe some of the other korean hagwons have them too.

Try your local university. Almost all of them have some kinds of Continuing/Lifelong education classes in English, Chinese, and Japanese. They usually schedule them before 9am and after 6pm.

YBM has Japanese classes at their Jongno branch. Maybe at others too.

There's ALO in Sincheon and Gangnam (private one on one conversation) and a hagwon in Yongsan. The Yongsan joint allows you to pay one base feee every month and you can go to as many classes as you want all day everyday.

I study Japanese an hour an evening at Chonnam National University. Probably not in your neck of the woods, but as somebody up there said, your local university will have something. The class works out to about 6,000 won a day over 7 weeks.

There's a place in Sinchon that does Japanese - Testwise academy next to YBM and Pagoda. I'm 99% sure that they have a bunch of Japanese classes in Jongno too.

Come to think of it, near the French restaurant in Sinchon (near Yonsei) there is a Sisa that does Japanese and Chinese I believe. Craigslist has a bunch too.

Most of the hagwons do Japanese classes, though they're not necessarily tailored to western learners. Personally, I'm learning through language exchange and self-study, and it's working out pretty well. Lots of Japanese people here seem to be interested in learning English.

I went to YBM to get information today.

The beginners classes are with a Korean teacher and there are conversation classes with a Japanese teacher. Problem is I don't want to learn from a Korean teacher. After hearing all the bad English and incorrect phrases from Korean English teachers, I don't want the same type of experience while learning Japanese :/

You could pay around 25,000 won an hour to a Japanese student in Seoul or Korea. Plenty of those around, it seems.
