No luck jailbreaking it. I tried twice...downloaded the ipsw directly from apple both times and build the ipsw both times. It would restore the phone, but then when it was supposed to reboot, it would get stuck in restore mode again. Once there you cant reboot, turn off/on, etc. Had to restore with authentic firmware.

No luck. Anyone else try?

You probably need to downgrade the baseband if that`s possible.

Nah, that's not possible. But jailbreaking at 3.1.2 is supposed to be. I really want to enable Skype over 3G, but to do that I need to have it jailbroken.

But Skype works over wifi? Can you confirm that?

About changing the names after 3 months, I would wait until they actually type in your ARC and say "OK, done". Until then, I have my doubts.

Of course. I'm doing it through my girlfriend. You pay the prices that koreans pay, which are noted on the SHOW website.

True, but KT didn't sell you your Touch. I just wanted to settle a fear I had about KT selling iPhones.

I am very interested in more detail about this comment. Isn't Skype used through wifi?

Skype is 'officially' only offered over WIFI and yes, it works fine on my phone here. If you are able to jailbreak though, there are 'hacks' that will enable you to use Skype (and other restricted apps) over 3G. On a side note, the free NESPOT will be available from the 11th on. This will drastically reduce bandwidth over 3G cuz I was able to use NESPOT on my iPod Touch almost constantly where ever I walked.

Did you use blackra1n? http://www.blackra1n.com/ I don't think PwnageTool works on this yet. blackra1in should be able to jailbreak it.

What version is your baseband? 05.11.07 is the one that blackra1n works on.

Ya, I used PwnageTool but had no luck. Wouldn't reboot as I mentioned. I do have 3.1.2 and baseband 05.11.07, but i thought this was the update that disabled unlocking!??!

Edit: Ya....you're right. "Clean firmware 3.1.2 and baseband 05.11.07 are recommended." That is definitely good news!! But I don't like the "tethered jailbreak". Kind of annoying to boot into recovery every time you reboot the phone (not that I really ever rebooted my iPod Touch).

Edit again: PwnageTool should work. "PwnageTool 3.1.4 for Mac OS X which supports the 3.1.2 release of the iPhone software for iPhone 2G/3G/3GS and iPod Touch 1G/2G". I'm not sure why it didn't. This would be my preferred method as I don't need it unlocked right now, just jailbroken.

I just did a test using My3GSpeed and got a download speed of 1.39mbps. Using the Speedtest.net app, I got 2.4mbps down and 57kbps up. Seems great to me!!!

Oh, is blackra1n still tethered? I thought he fixed that. It'll probably get fixed soon, anyway.

Those speeds are pretty great. I hope they stay that way once more iPhones hit the network. In Toronto, 3G speeds were always fast but I heard places like NYC were pretty awful due to network congestion. Seoul might end up like NYC. Fortunately I live in Ulsan so I probably won't have to worry about that.

Okay, bear with me as I am new to wifi and 3g phones and technology.

I got you that with the hack you can use Skype over 3G, but that will count toward the data portion of the plan right? Why is it restricted? Is it like that in all countries, or just here? What other kinds of apps are restricted? Can this be detected by KT?

This is a wifi network, NESPOT, right? The phone can be used on wifi at home, too, right? So you are saying haking may not be necessary because nespot is always avalible? Is NESPOT unlimited, or not?

Also, if anyone knows, can I used the US app store instead of the korean one?

I know, I am not very well versed in all this yet - my appologies for all the questions.

Cheers.. .

Okay, so I got the Iphone, but it won't activate. My gf called KT and they said that I just need to wait for the text message to activate my phone. So it's been like 30 minutes and I'm still waiting. So for those of you who got your iphone, how long did you wait for the text.
