|
Does anyone know where I can order the background check with VSS screening in Ontario that will be accepted by the Korean Consulate in Toronto?
Last time I used these guys: http://www.cbmpara.ca/ However my emails have been going unanswered for the past week.
Thanks! |

Winnipeg Police Services. Any Canadian, no fingerprints and you can do it from Korea or Ontario. Print the forms from the website, photocopy 2 pieces of ID and express mail it with a CC number or fax it. One week to process and in your hands. |

I've heard the Kingston Police Service's website is also a good place to get criminal background checks.
I'm surprised CBM Paralegal isn't returning your e-mails. I used them in the past and they were very good. Maybe your e-mails aren't getting to them for some reason. Perhaps calling them would work better? |

I'm 85% sure the Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) is no longer required for Canadians and that a criminal record check (CRC) is sufficient. Can anyone confirm that? Last I heard they stopped that requirement in June '09 according to asknow.ca website
I went to the Peel Regional Police Head Quarters in Brampton on Hurontario Rd. Cost $45, they did it on spot for me. However, I did it in person. Not sure of their online site. |

Where did you obtain it from?
Perhaps it's true that the VSS is no longer needed as there's no mention of it on the Korean consulate web site for Toronto:
http://www.koreanconsulate.on.ca/en/?b_id=86&c_id=338&mnu=a01b08
Either way, thanks for the advice about the Winnipeg police search. It seems as if they get their background checks out within a day of receiving the application and it's only $30 including the VSS check. That's as good as anything else. I faxed them my application yesterday and their web site states they're already sending out applications received December 1st.
Also the Toronto consulate site says the background check must be done from Manitoba or Ontario - but I'm not sure how closely they follow that as my last one was from Newfoundland I think... |

I got mine from my local police station in Ontario, there's a checkbox for VSS and it didn't cost me any extra. |

I got mine done using that cbmpara website last January when I had to renew my contract from Korea and he was extremely efficient.
However, I got one done in the summer at my local police station in Sarnia. Cost was 40 dollars with a VSS included and it was in the mail at my house within 5 business days. |
