Substitute Queen with your favorite music.
It also helps to get away from the following:
- "What's your name?"
- "Where are you from?"
- "What's my name?"
- "How are you?"
- "What's your blood type?"
- "How old are you?" |

| I listen to music all the time anyway, and it still doesn't deter the more persistant kids! They'll flag me down... My favorite kids, though, I feel bad because I somehow do miss them. Then they say to me at school, "teacher, I said hi, but you were like this" (and they do a snobby face). Hah, they're so fun. |

| I didn't recognize a students hello. The news went all the way to Suwon office of Education. I got told off by a Supervisor. Big brother is always watching. |

i originally thought this was about ignoring the random students on the street, in the theatre, shops, stores, etc.
but you shouldn't be ignoring your students. if you're worried about not recognizing your students outside of school, just make a mental buffer zone around your school and make sure to smile and say hi to students that greet you and match your school's level/sex.
i also listen to my music on my way to and from school, but i make a point of not wearing my headphones when i'm a certain distance to the school. |

Really? man, i do it the korean way. i get a bow or i do not respond. |
some students bow and some just say hi. i've even had a student ask if i preferred "hi" or "hello." i'm not picky as long as they're not screaming at me or acting like smart_asses. |

I ALWAYS say hello to students and teachers at school, but one day I didn't see one of the teachers when I was walking back from the cafeteria and they complained to the school and I got talked to about being nicer and saying hello to everyone  |

so there i was, in a nearby city, and i hear my name hollered across the busy road i stopped, turned, waved, smiled but couldn't see who it was through the mass of faces on that busy urban street |

a much better idea! but with my students, many of them just call me teacher and don't know my name. one thought she knew my name... but it was actually the last foreign teacher's. |

Well, the students have to learn that one says the greetings for the first time on the day and one says the goodbyes when one parts. There are no 'helloooo's in between!
My guess is that when they meet the English teacher they think they have to speak some English. What can they say besides "hellooooo"? Nothing really, 7 out of 80 can answer "How is the weather?" Well, I know they can't 'talk' in English. I teach them the typical conversation: How are you, I'm fine thanks, etc. Next time: helloooooo! |

| I sometimes won't say hello to the teachers. Saying hello to students is no problem. Each job I inform the other teachers of my bad habit. |

It's like a celebrity who gets asked for autographs all the time. At first it's great to do, but then over time they just get tired of it, cause once you give one person an autograph, then you have to give another person an autograph, and then another...
And sometimes you're just not in the mood to give autographs. |
