| If you already have Vista, you might want to keep it. I've read that in some ways Windows 7 is a step down from Vista that is kept updated. |
How is that possible? |
Because Vista has been out for almost 3 years with millions of people using it. It has been field tested. Windows 7 has only been beta tested.
Every OS needs at least a year or two in general use to catch all the bugs.
I can entirely believe that a fully updated Vista is more stable and secure than a newly installed W7.
Don't get carried away by the Pro-W7 hype the way many people were carried away by the anti-Vista hype. It's all bandwagonism with very little supporting data. |

Again, no proof from you, either. I wasn't the one claiming Vista was better. It seems like I'm not the one who has to prove anything.
We have Vista 64 and Windows 7 in our house. Windows 7 seems far better. Faster. I'm actually having fewer issues with it compared to Vista in terms of updates.
If you enjoy Vista, then by all means, stick with it. Glad you like it. |

^ I've read a few tech reports comparing W7 to Vista......very little between them......depends what area you want to talk about.
In gaming, nothing. One website actually measured Vista slightly ahead in most games.
It's like when Vista came out and was found to be actually a bit slower than XP.....because every application around in early 2007 had been optimized for XP and Vista had the inevitable bugs any new OS has.
Same deal now. As far as OS's go, it's not automatically better to be the newest thing out. The examples of XP and Vista show us that an OS only really starts coming into its own about 2 years after release.
I've got Windows 7 Ultimate sitting on my desk ready to go into my main machine. It will go in soon....but not right now, not much point....they are such similar OS's. |

I paid 6 man won for mine, in English. |
So you're smiling that you PAID for what is probably a pirated copy you could have gotten for free from torrents? OK...that's kinda stupid.
Just checked and HP can be had for 134k, Pro for 178k, and Ultimate for 243k. These prices are identical to the prices for the Korean version. |
I've got an offical key from Microsoft!!
My Korean friend got me the student discount they are doing here!!
Smiling more now I know how much you paid for it!! |

| Keys for Windows 7 are supposed to be more strict. If you buy an OEM version from HP, it might not work on a non-HP computer. Be careful. |

Check your country's profile with Digital River...I think UK colleges, and a couple of other countries besides Canada and the US are on there.
I bought mine from the Canadian site...Canada doesn't use .edu addresses...you just have to go one of the Universities that's on their list. No need to provide proof of coursework.
I got Windows 7 Pro and Office Ultimate for ~100CDN. Not a bad deal...
Windows 7 is real cool. It just works. The only problem I've run into is IE8...it crashes regularly...of course that could be because of some plugin...I just use Firefox...works like a charm. |

Mine has been fine for the last month, I have an email from Microsoft with my name on it, the price I paid and the Key.

| I bought the Windows 7 for $30 because I had the .edu address, seems to boot quicker but I didn't have any problems with the OEM Vista. |

Yeah, and that problem is one that they just can't seem to fix! Some people were discussing this on the Windows forum. You're certainly not alone! I use FF, too.
Microsoft really needs to get on the ball and fix that issue. I understand it's not just a Windows 7 thing. |

| I'm confused; do I have to purchase this in order to type in Korean and read it on my computer? With Vista I just had to install the language bar and keyboard. Google is redirecting me to the MUI pack, but I don't want to change all the windows and options into Korean, I just want to be able to type and see Korean and not wingdings. |

Nothing has changed. Typing and displaying Korean on an English computer is the same as its always been. |

On the keyboard option, I added Korean. It says that to switch from E-K I need to hit the left alt-shift, but it's not working. Do I need to install the language pack? I look for the Korean pack on my computer, but that language isn't even an option. |

If you correctly added Korean to the Keyboard Input section of your Languages choices in Control Panel, then all you should need to do is click the 'A' at the bottom right of your screen to change it to a '가', then hit the language key on the right of your space bar. You should then be typing in Korean.
You do not need to install the Languages Pack for Korean!! That will change your whole computer to Korean. Only Vista/Windows 7 Ultimate and Premium allow you to do this anyway.
Language packs are downloaded from MS. |
