For those of you who may have a week of Camp before X-mas, I am going to teach a song each day (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and then we will have a contest on Thursday for the group who sings the three songs the best. (Simple songs with Choruses only, Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, ect.)
I am looking for a good Christmas movie for 4th and 5th graders, any Ideas?

Hey Mike,
Try "The Snowman". It's a little short (only 30 minutes I think) but it's really sweet, and it made some of my Grade 6 kiddies cry last year.

Or, for something a little less tear jerkery...try "The Muppet Christmas Carol". I haven't seen it for years, but I am thinking of using it this Winter Camp...I'll have to watch it first to see if it is alright.

If you're after something a little more edgy or scarey..."Gremlins" could be good (it was rated ALL in Korea when it was released).

Maybe "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" could be worth it as well...but I suspect that your students may have already seen it.

Oh...The Nightmare Before Christmas...it's really good and in spite of the title it's not scarey.

Does it have to be Christmas related?
How about Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol??? |

I've just put up loads of carols and we have some great karaoke/ppt carols too. Check out our Christmas page
I'll also have up by the weekend - subtitled How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I think that is a good one for Christmas.

It's an oldie, but I like it, Rudolph - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058536/
Younger kids didn't like it though. They just shouted "Sponge Bob" 10 minutes into it, lol
I wonder, are you doing this yourself or do you have help from your school and co-teacher? I have yet to see a class willingly sing songs. They all hate it, and since I can't sing (also don't like to) I don't push it on them. However, it sounds like an excellent activity and would do it too if I thought I could pull it off |

Man! I love all of those old Rankin/Bass Christmas movies!!! Right up until they jumped the shark with "The Year Without Santa", which aside from being boring and long winded, is just kind of depressing. Santa gets depressed and gives up on Christmas!!! It was awful!!
Frosty was cool though. |
