I was wondering what power supply brands are reputable in Korea.
I want to build a desktop, but looking through danawa, I see a bunch of power supply brands I never heard of for fairly cheap, and then I see some name brand stuff like corsair that's incredibly overpriced here.
any suggestions? |

Never play with your PSU. If it dies, it may kill your mobo/CPU as well.
I'd recommend Antec - but it's not Korean and I don't know if you can find it easily here... |

yeah, i was looking at the corsair one on newegg since it got pretty good reviews but its almost double the price here in korea.
any other recommendations? |

| FSP, Zalman, Enermax, OCZ psu are all available on danawa. These are all reputable brands, along with the Antec previously mentioned. What kind of rig are you building/ power reqirements needed? |

nothing super powerful, just decent.
probably something along the lines of
icore 5
4gig ram
9800gt
wd 640 black hd
dvd
23" monitor
may upgrade to better vid card in the future.
with that, i think 550-600w should do right? |

Seconded.
I'm using a 500w FSP Epsilon 80+ in my main computer now. It seems like a well made PSU for 90,000.
I'm using the Zalman 600w (110,000) in my HTPC. It's also built to high spec although it did fail once. Went totally dead when I moved the PC from one room to another. But there's a 3 year warranty so Zalman fixed it for free. It's fine now.
Zalman stuff is actually quite expensive in the west, but it's reasonably priced here in Korea.
The good thing about power supplies nowadays is that PC parts in general are using less power now that being 'green' is the big thing in computing. The exception is graphics cards which can use over 200w alone.
I'd say for single graphic card set-up's, you don't need more than 500w these days. 600w max.
Quality is far more important than wattage. |

Seasonic are solid too..not sure availability on danawa...pricey as with most impiorted electronics but have some 80plus rated effieciecy models out
Its a shame not more is known about the lesser Korean brands (in all components)..im sure there must be some good cheaper local brands out there just going along unnoticed. |
