I just got offered a position in Yangsan and other than seeing from a map that it is between Busan and Ulsan I can't really get a good idea. I checked out their government map but its geared to get you to go there so I was wondering if anyone had any experience living or traveling to Yangsan.
Thanks,
GTG. |

My girlfriend lived there for a year so I spent quite a lot of time there. It's basically a very generic Korean satellite town with a hundred or so (and growing) foreigners, the normal WA Bar etc drinking holes and some good Korean restaurants. It's the last stop on the subway line so you've got a 30min+ trek into town but its under 10k for a taxi after a night in PNU so it's not too bad.
As long as you go there knowing that it most certainly is not in Busan then there are worse places in Korea to live.
Like Geoje, for example. Where I lived. |

That is pretty much what I was looking for in getting placed. I didn't want to be thrown into a big city. I mainly wanted to be close to a big city and that is about the distance I was thinking. I wanted to be able to get some of the culture and not get lost in a big city and gain little from the experience. What about the atmosphere? Cleanliness of the air and development of the city? |
