Hey!
So recently I decided to teach myself how to skateboard and i was wondering if anyone knew of anywhere that has pretty smooth pavement, flat land, and sortof secluded empty parking lot in or around Seoul. I tried going to Yonsei at midnight and it was still packed with students. Please let me know if you know of any places or if you want to skate too :0)
Cheers! |

Skating is quite an injury prone sport, by the way, especially for an "older" skater (ie someone who is not in their teens).
If you get hurt, and you probably will, you might not be able to teach. You will need to pay possibly thousands of dollars to fix yourself up in the hospital.
Is it worth it? No.
And with all of those goddamn motor scooters and shitty drivers and just an infestion of people everywhere, Korea is just not ideal for skating.
But I guess it would depend if you are a longboarder (easy) or a stunt-skater (hard). |

Well, it depends what you want to do.
There are a few skateparks like near Teuk-sam and Kundae in East Seoul.
Also there are some larger skateparks just outside of Seoul, but I forget where they are now.
I've been longboarding for almost 10 years, and skated street for years before that.
Usually I just longboard on bike paths next to rivers. Earlier this year there was a skatepark near my place (Geangmyeong), so I got a trick deck (and luckily didn't kill myself) but one day when i went to go skating all of the outdoor equipment was gone.
If you just want somewhere safe to practice, I'd suggest going to a parking lot near hangang, since there probably wont be much traffic this time of year. |

There's a small area outside of the main Yongsan station that has a couple of ramps and a decent open area for people to practice. There are always skaters and freestyle bikers of all ages hanging around out there. |

I've seen some skaters using the stairs and ramps near COEX mall's east side. Where all those office towers are. |
