Hey everyone I am almost positive I am going to accept an offer to teach at Jung(Jeong) Jin school in Incheon, anyone ever heard of it? Here is some of the details.

40 min classes (5-6 day)
M-F (usually 2-Cool
2 weeks vacation
2 million won
elementary-middle school students

Thats the basics, how do you think it sounds? Also anyone live or been to Incheon, is there anything to do there?

Bob

Hope the school works out for you.

Sounds like a good set-up.

Not sure about Incheon but the airport is there of course and you're a 45 min subway ride from Seoul.

Sounds like a good first year gig.

I used to live in Incheon, and I have to warn you that as a location it's hit or miss. There are two subway lines (including the Incheon end of Line 1), but the coverage isn't all that extensive. If you are near one of the subway stations, then you're pretty well connected to Seoul and lots of other things. If not, you can be pretty isolated.

In addition to easy access to Seoul, Incheon also has a ferry port from which you can go to the breathtaking Yellow Sea islands. Lots of fun to explore in the summer time.

If you can find out more about exactly where you'll be, I'll see if I can help you more.

This really caught my attention. I'm always looking for new things to do in Korea, espcially now that the weather is getting warmer. Would you be so kind as to tell us more about visiting the islands. What are the names of the best islands? How much is a ticket? What's to do on the islands? Does the ferry depart from the same terminal as the international ferries?

Sorry to steal the thread OP. But hey, this might be interesting for you too.

I think that years of substance abuse has warped this writers senses. To describe the West Sea islands as breathtaking, is as untrue as describing Vladivostok as a beautiful, Pacific port town nestled in an enticing valley that enjoys a year round tropical climate.

They hold some interest and can be good places for a change of secenery and some coastal air, thats about it.

Well, they're probably not as nice as Cuba, and definitely not as nice as Koh Pee Pee, but they're definitely worth a weekend trip if you live in the Seoul area. I was born and raised in inland industrial cities, so I'll be the first to admit that my standards for natural beauty may be a bit lower than fidel's. Nonetheless, if you get far enough away from Inchon the air and water are clean, there's nice hiking and scenery, and the seafood is great. Took my breath away, at least. See for yourself, I guess.

Howard, the ferry terminal is called YeonAn Pier (Ⱥε), and it's actually right next door to the international ferry port where you can take a slow boat to China. The closest subway station is Dong Incheon station on the West End of Line 1, I haven't figured out how to catch the bus to the ferry port from the subway station, but it's about a 5000 won cab ride. YeonAn Pier also has its own stop on the Samhwa Express bus system which you can take for less than 3000 from Seoul Station, Shinchon, or Gangnam.

My favorite islands that I've seen so far are DeokJeokDo/ and JaWeolDo/ڿ. DeokJeokDo is about an hour ferry ride for about 35000. If you can beat the crowds (spring and fall) I'd say this is the better island. JaWeolDo is a bit less developed, but it also doesn't get as crowded and the minbaks all seem to include free bike rentals with your room. It's a 40 minute ferry ride for about 28000.

One that I don't recommend going to right now is Muido/ǵ, which is a nice convenient bus and 5 minute ferry ride from Incheon Airport. It's neighbor, Silmido/ǹ̵ was just featured in the movie of the same name so you can expect huge crowds.
