I would try using VLC Media. That works well with most. GOM Player is another suggestion. Good luck!

You could also try getting the right codecs for the file. http://cccp-project.net/

and use any players you like. I'm not a big fan of vlc even tho it does play majority of files. Just don't like the interface on it

VLC will play anything, but doesn't render some codecs properly. Zoom Player is slightly more bloated, but works better overall.

KMPlayer. By far the best I've used, and I've gone through everything everyone above me has suggested.

Seconded. You may think you've died and gone to heaven when you first discover VLC, but KMPlayer is simply in a class of its own, the best of the best. I've stumbled across some rare filetypes which VLC will NOT play--KMP does, though. Also, VLC will get upset if you pause it too long; KMPlayer can sit on pause all day and pick right back up again. It's both more robust, in every way, and I think esthetically more pleasing, with a really sleek, sophisticated appearance. Better than GOM as well.

or you can just download the k-lite codec pack. Should be able to play it using WMP. Google it.
