I happened to be in a motel last night and just caught the live draw:
The two Koreas going against Argentina and Brazil
Brazil and Portugal in the same group is all the Portuguese language can take!
Japan has a relatively sweet draw, ought to advance.
New Zealand luckier than hell to only have to beat Paraguay and Slovakia to advance (but I doubt they will).
England and USA in the same draw (with two lowly opponents to beat)?
No way is the host country getting out of Group A! (Bet the farm.)
Interestingly, the Swiss drew last and are with three Spanish-speakin' countries.
The lottery draw was fun to watch. Though why the Englishman Beckham was drawing alongside all Africans was mind boggling (British Imperialism on the continent knows no limits). |

Host teams have always advance. Although it maybe hard this time, but I think they'll do it. |

I agree both Koreas are screwed!
North especially... still the ball is round and anything can happen...
Italy has a pretty sweet draw... |

Group D matters to me.
Have to say I can't see the Aussies doing well, they have to rely on the heroics of Timmy Cahill, or another midfielder like Breschiano or Kewell, we've never had a decent striker.
I see AUS Vs GER 0-1
AUS VS Ghana 1-2
AUS VS Serbia 1-1
Pommies have an easy draw.
Group G looks the strongest but these days the teams are fairly even on an international level, but somehow teams with pedigree like Brazil, Germany, Italy usually do well so I'll expect them to be fighting it out, hopefully with Ivory Coast this year. |

South Korea stand a good chance to progress, the Greeks aren't up to much and this must be the worst performing Argentinian side since 1958 so South Korea can take points off those two teams and if other results go their way - they can progress to the next round.
The team that will not only give them major problems but give them a bit of a thumping will be Nigeria. They are fast, big, strong and are physical and Korea will have their hands full that day. Hey it could have been worse - they could have been in North Koreas shoes!
For the host nation - South Africa have been given a shitty draw! Not one of those games are easy. Uruguay aren't up to much but know how NOT to lose and of course you have France and Mexico - Mexico are a good side. I still expect South Africa to qualify even if they don't top the group. |
