I plan on driving to muju this weekend from Gwangju but I am not for sure what the easiest way to get there is. I don't have navigation yet so I am wondering if anyone knows any websites to print directions like mapquest. I have used one but it wasn't very good. Thanks in advance for any advice given.

take the highway for Namwon and stay on it heading north and look for the signs... easy peasy... takes about 2 hours from Gwangju

the major highways and English signage in this country are remarkably good

Hey, I was wondering how your drive to Muju went. I live near Jinju and wanted to try the drive, but I wasn't sure how easy it would be. Did you stay the night? Are there other lodging options other than Muju resort? Thanks

Oh, you are going this weekend. Let me know how it goes.

There are a couple of hotels there that are the only game in town and charge accordingly. Not much to do other than ski in Muju town, the exit for it is just past Gumi, to the north, if I remember. Easy to get to, just follow the signs.

Yeah, it was pretty easy from Gwangju. Just went to Jeonju and then followed the signs on 26 all the way there. Maybe 3 roads the whole way there.

Sounds easy enough. I booked a room at Kookmin for this weekend, so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the update.

If I take a bus to the Muju terminal, is it pretty easy to get to the ski resort? Does anyone know if there's a bus that goes there?

And, in case anyone knows, if I want to go snowboarding for a day and rent pretty much everything everything (pants, jacket, gloves, board, bindings, boots, mask), how much will that run me?

BUMP FOR THE HATERS. Very Happy

Heres what i want to know:

Im busing it from gwangju (or train, i aint fussed).
Just went to the site, but its hopeless.

1. There are apparently buses from yeodong. Anyone know the times and how easy it is to find them?
2. What type of accommodation is available? Im looking for something nice and foreigner friendly (no korean, havent been here for very long).
3. If yeodong isnt so far, you reckon itd make more sense to just stay there and pile into muju? or is it a good 2 hours or so away?
4. Anyone been yet? Hows the fake snow treating you? IS it as bananas as everyone said it is? (throngs of people, 30 minutes queues for every lift, mass shut down for lunch and of course fake crappy snow? - oh, and one of my mates from japan said "ah muju! like tokyo station with a bit of snow" hes telling the truth isnt he?)

Yeah, I went last weekend but I drove. It was a nice drive and there weren't too many people out there. Most were hanging out in the cafeteria. The lift took me about five or six minutes. All in all i think it is a cool place to go to get out of the city. Also. it is not too expensive for the day. I just don't know about spending the night though.

ippy, sorry, i don't have any answers because i haven't been yet but i'd like to go to muju once school gets out so please post how your experience goes. i'm mostly curious about rental costs, getting from the bus terminal to the resort, and the answer to your #4 (the degree of bananas that it is)...

I live near Jinju and I'm going this Saturday and staying at the Kookmin Hotel. I'll post when I get back and let everybody know how it was.
