Nice. Good website too.
Anyone know if you can get this here in Korea? And where?
I suppose if you can get it in Cambodia as well, that will work. But it'd be nicer to have before I left. |

| Not 100% sure but i think you need to start taking it a couple of days before you enter the risk area. |

Google is way better than the site search function on here. But I think most of you knew that already.
Found a Malarone thread. |

| Malaria tabs are very bad for your health. I have seen people tripping out after taking them. I would only take them if I was going into the friggin jungle or the was a severe outbreak in the area I was going. |

Not all. Certain ones have side effects like that but Malarone should be fine. Ever seen anyone with Malaria? Much worse than tripping out. |

| doxycycline (sp?) is also another one. It is pretty common. I have taken it in the past for something else and had no side effects. |

I looked into the common side effects of Malarone; sleeping problems, strange dreams, sometimes a lil digestion trouble at first.
I think i'd rather suffer thru those instead of possibly developing Malaria. |

It depends where you're going. I agree with D.D; if you're sticking to urban areas, I wouldn't bother.
The side effects of malarone CAN be freakin' awful. I wouldn't crank my body full of anti-biotics unless I really had to. |

From which country are you?
If your body is not used to dangerous mosquitos and other sicknessess that spread through insects and animals then you will be dumb not taking malaria meds. Malarone is the one with the least side effects and dangerous side effects are VERY rare with them. They are issued to all foreign oil workers in Africa as standard. It is the most trusted malaria medication in the world.
So if you tell me your from a country where there are malaria hotspots then i would say yes, you can take a chance. I am from one and have gone into malaria areas before without taking the meds. But i have also seen many western people who think they are untouchable and then they get hit with malaria.
Its simply stupid to take a chance with your life. |

I'm from good ol' Michigan, and we're not known as a malaria hotspot.
Worst things we have to deal with are blackflys and blizzards. Mosquitos are pretty rough in the summer, especially up in the north (U.P.). But they never carrie anything terribly harmful. I'll knock on wood just to make sure.
So, probably would be smart to get some Malarone, yeah?
And we'll be in urban areas, jungle-river areas and on the coast while visiting, with about equal time spent in each. We'll be traveling for almost 2 weeks total. |

| I went to a jungle area in Central America last month and took Chloroquine for malaria. Worst drug ever. I had terrible nightmares and it made my ears hurt. My fiance took it and had nightmares as well, and he couldn't go SCUBA diving because he couldn't clear his ears. I was supposed to take it for eight weeks when I got back but I had to quit. I didn't get that many bug bites in the jungle anyway so I figured I was safe. |
