Try reading a story to them while their eyes are closed at the beginning of nap time. Then speak in a soothing voice as you're telling the story.

I've never tried it but the idea just popped ino my head and sounded like it might work.

Let me know if it works.

Children's Tylenol Laughing
I wouldn't continue doing it. Chances are you will get in modedit for doing that by your boss or the parents. The million plus tuition is for studying and prepping them to become Korea #1 SKY graduate extraordinaire.

Yeah, are you allowed to give them naptime? It's a great idea and everything, but won't you get in trouble?

Whenever we went on field trips with kindergartners, they'd fall asleep on the bus, so I'm sure they kind of need nap time!

It's a bad idea, an incredibly bad idea, for you or your coteacher to be dispensing medication of any kind, OTC or not, to the students. I'm also surprised you and your coteacher have decided, apparently on your own, to not peform the job but put the kids down for a nap.

now that is some serious, hardcore dedication.

I have always wondered why the media here loves to call us "lazy."

Turn the lights off. Nappie, nappie time. Hee, hee. And get paid.

Doesn't matter. It's just kindergarten.

"Quiet story time" where they are allowed to lie down and must be quiet sounds like a great idea. Bonus for you if they fall asleep.

I agree. If they happen to fall asleep, it's not your fault. Wink, nudge, say no more! I used to use TV sometimes for the same purpose. Little Bear videos are good.

I use TV to pacify my middle schoolers sometimes, too. The crankier they are, the better it works Smile They get quiet, and they laugh... Mr. Bean is the best.

THIS.

When I look at the elements of this plan, it's all unethical, immoral, likely against your contract and there are elements of this, such as medication distribution, that are quite possibly illegal. VERY illegal.

This is certainly the type of stuff that cements terrible reputations for the rest of us.

I'm with you half of the way. Giving kids pills to make them nap is a horrible idea.

However, nap time sounds like a decent idea. I had nap time when I was in kindergarten, and I assume that most Americans had this as well. Yes, you're not being taught at this time, but the kids could definitely use some naps. Kids, especially kindergartners and preschool kids have bursts of insane energy followed by bouts of exhaustion. Giving kids a short nap time helps them get back some of their energy so that they can spend the rest of the day awake and fall asleep at a reasonable hour.

I would, however make sure this is okay with the director before implementing it, though. Parents might not be too worried about it in kindergarten. While they do make their kids study a bunch, in kindergarten, they don't expect their kids to go to school, go to hagwon and then stay up until 4 doing homework. They might be okay with a ten minute nap.
