I just received an e-mail from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies after applying to their winter camp. They laid out a lot of details and said if I was good with those, then they'd send a contract.
I have of course done a search on them already and heard about the issue of them charging 25% tax. My e-mail states that the salary I would be receiving (600k won for 2wks, free airfare) is net, not gross, so the taxes should have been deducted already. I'll ask for more detail on that anyway. Although, since it's one of those last-day-of-camp payments, am I sure to get paid?
What I am concerned about is the airfare. I'm OK with the salary being low because airfare is provided, but it is of the sort where I buy it 1st and am reimbursed. They said the process should be a month. In general it seems like airfare reimbursement can be an issue in Korea. Can anyone (FT profs/teachers too) share their experiences getting airfare back from HUFS?
Also - if I want to hang around Korea after I'm done, do I need to do a visa run? |
