|
|
When I want to do something simple like buy anything I get prompted to get my info checked with the real name system. There was that site that was mocked mercilessly for trying to explain to "foreigners" how to use the internet in Korea, but the English was too terrible to understand and the site was terrible.
I was trying to buy something and got sent to this site to verify my ID:
http://www.idcheck.co.kr/idcheck/namereg/namereg01.do
But when I try to enter my information, the site times out. (After going to the bottom for the foreigner information).
So how DO I use this mysterious thing called the internet in Korea? |

The only time I've experienced that "real name" problem was youtube (there's a post about that on this site). Where else has it come up for you? You can find ways around these issues usually...

I was just trying to order some DVDs. And there was no way around it- if I want to spend my money I need to verify my ID with the system. And they make it look so easy, but then the site doesn't work (cannot be displayed). I read Korean, so that's no problem...just can't figure out why they don't want my money. |

easy way around the real name lunacy. You need to use a VPN program like hotspot shield that masks your IP address.
KT can't do anything to limit you as you will using a US server. |

Yes, I'm talking about Korean sites. I would like access to the same sites Koreans use, as unheard of as that is...
I tried this both in firefox on a mac and IE on a PC. |
