| I prefer Jim Beam...but when Soju is only $1...you can't go wrong with getting black out drunk for $2 |

| Whiskey, especially Scotch is great. Soju is crap. Whiskey is expensive in K-land. Soju is cheap. End of discussion. Take your pick. |

| Last night I got drunk on Johnnie Walker for the first time in several months (first time in months I've been drunk on top shelf liquor)and damn! The buzz was so much better, it went down so smooth, and I felt perfectly energized and refreshed this morning- none of the crappy soju after effects.. |
different bodies, different effects: I always get a hangover from whiskey and never from soju (as long as don't have beer or other alcohol types the same night); after a night of enough soju bottles to fall down and have trouble getting into bed, i feel fantastic the next day, seriously my body likes the stuff (only soju and rum don't give me hangovers ever) - of course, whatever alcohol i drink, i make sure to have three tall glasses of water before bed to hydrate, and it works for soju and rum - whiskey? ugh. headache and drained feeling all the next day. same with beer, vodka, wine, etcetera. |

No one type of drink gives me hangovers more than others. If I have a lot of mixers, I'll definitely feel terrible the next day, but that's a different story. As long as I don't drink enough to make me vomit or black out, and I have some water, or water and an aspirin before bed, I'm good. While I do like a fine whiskey and quality beer, I like soju more. Soju gives me a much more active drunk. I feel like going out on the town, talking to friends and just doing stuff. Whiskey and beer are nice, but they result in early nights. I suppose for me, whiskey is a drink to be had while cracking open a book or watching a movie, while soju is more of a social drink.
Also, I like soju because it brings back memories of days long gone. I grew up on malt liquor and thunderbird. The best was what was referred to as a "shake 'em up." This is where you take a bottle of thunderbird and a packet of cool aid and shake them up. The result is a sloppy drunk and bright blue, red, orange, green or whatever color of cool aid you use lips and tongue. |
