I just poured myself some milk over honey nut cornflakes and took a couple of mouthfuls, crunch crunch, then looked down to see a black thing bob up to the surface, a live cockroach. I immediately stood up and walked outside, pouring the bowl's contents on the unused garden plot/compost pile, seeing the bug move around some more, coming back inside to ensure that the cereal box ends up in the garbage.
Good morning. |

I never saw a cockroach growing up on Vancouver Island, not one.
Lots of daddy longlegs, sure, one climbs over my spaghetti and I just shoo it along or cup it and put it outside (because the VanIsland has enough rain without my contributing to it) but there's something immediately repulsive about roaches. Yeah they are a lot like the water beetles I grew up with, but I never saw a water beetle in my home, always outside. |

yes, popped right up, but probably came FROM the cereal box, the bag within had been rolled up but not sealed, so the critter could have climbed right in and fell into my bowl amidst the flakes, unbeknownst to the pourer |

When I was a kid I had this cup with an opaque, (this point is important) black straw that was attached to it. Once I put some milk in it and took a big sip, felt something moving in my mouth and spat out an earwig which then crawled away across the floor. |

I like to keep my kitchen clean and make sure critters like that can';t get inside the rolled up bags.
Or, do you think it was there as an egg and recently hatched.
EEEwwww.
Did the roach smile at you when he saw you? |

That's pretty bad...
I was eating walnuts one day while watching a movie and I picked up what felt like a giant walnut. Without thinking, I took a bite and it had this hairy texture. I looked down, and it was a bunch of walnuts bound by some sort of cocoon-type material and from the place I had bit off, some squirmy bug pops its head out. I admit I let out a small scream, threw it back in the jar, sealed it, and dumped the whole thing in the trash. Freakin' gross.
In terms of cockroaches, though, my friends and I used to frequent this tiny restaurant near Fudan Uni in Shanghai. The food was pretty good, and we continued to eat there despite there being cockroaches climbing all over the walls--I'm talkin' like dozens at a time. Anyway, we stopped eating there after one day, when my friend found a cockroach INSIDE of one of his jiaozi (dumplings).
I hate bugs. |

Q. What's worse than eating cereal and finding a live cockroach in it?
A. Eating cereal and finding half of a live cockroach in it. |

How about when you have a bowl of raisin bran, but you find that it wasn't supposed to be raisin bran? Thankfully, I hadn't eaten any... |

the rest of the day majorly sucked, as it turned out, one bad thing after another happened
i should just have stayed in bed all day - would have been a vast improvement over what it has turned out to be, all in all |
