Ok heres my situation, I'm getting legally married to my fiance next month, he's a GI and the we're going back to the states for a ceremony and reception when we're on leave this August, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how I can get things organised from over here, and if anyone else has done this please tell me how!!! |

Just a thought, but since you'll already be married why not just have the reception? That way you don't have to worry about dress, flowers, church etc. . |

Congratulations!
I've helped arrange four receptions...my own, and then one for each of my three sisters. A friend or family member should take care of it for you. Receptions are all about getting the families together anyway. Just tell them to make sure there's some good eats...
Advice? This is sexist, but have a guy you can trust set things up. That way there will be a minimum of pomp and ceremony and plenty of beer, and no one will get their feelings hurt when the old ladies start to pick and complain about how things "should have" been done... |

Beaver, if you were to post about the quality of the title of this thread, that one time you would be right |

You're Irish and he's American right?
If that's true, then he should be setting up the partr in the USA not you.
I went through a similar situation when I married my first wife who was British. She arranged the party in England and I arranged the ceremony/party in the USA. I don't think your husband should ask you to make the arrangements in the USA.
Look, tell him before you go to the USA you'd like to stop off in Ireland for a small party, and ask him if he can set up the party in Ireland....see what he says. |

I got my family to take care of the wedding party at home (I was living in Japan), the real wedding was in Seoul and my husband took care of that (and did a great job! no wedding hall, no church!). So I had 2 weddings and ZERO worries
I had no idea what was going to happen at the wedding, I didn't know till the night before there was going to be live music or a second/third party, I just went with the flow |

Are you talking about help with the wedding and the parties. Or are you talking legally such as visas, marriage certificates, and that. If legal, talk to your fiance. If he is a GI he should have access to literature and pamphlets about getting married. |

I agree.And going off on a tangent.
Somebody wants a simple answer and all you seem to get is one word stupid comments. Nothing constructive. I understand humor and going off in other directions with a discussion. But people put some more thought into then just writing a basic brain fart like "I think your crazy for getting married and you need help".
So if you can't help or have anything to add avoid answering.
And for Kelly can we have a bit more details about your problem. Was it legal or party related. If party related my advice. Is look on the Internet. You can probally find quiet a few places that will help you with parties where you are. Through you might need a credit card. Heck ask your fiance's family to help you a bit. Or try to go early to the US. |
