I'm considering buying a modded wii off of craigslist. The guy says it's brand new and is modded with 3.2u (don't know what that means). He's asking for 300,000 won. My question is, is it better to have a modded wii (the wii with 3.2u) or a normal Korean wii? I don't know anything about modded Wii's (although I do love playing with systems) and am worried I may brick the system by playing around with it.
Also, can I play normal Wii games off the system or is it only burned games that are playable?
Thanks! |

Hmm...I don't know how much Wii's are normally.
Back when I soft modded my Wii it required an official copy of the Zelda game to do the whole process.
Best thing to do is check how much a normal Wii is (second hand or new) and find the price for the Zelda game and see which one is worth it.
I don't know if the hack methods have changed since.
If your not too good with computers then maybe your better off buying a modded Wii.
In terms of games, once modded you can play originals too should you want. |

300 is a little steep, does it have much in the way of peripherals? Maybe with 4 controllers and/or the balance board or motion plus.
The basic Korean Wii is 220, with just the one controller and nunchuck. Modding at Yongsan would set you back maybe 50. The Korean Wiis are apparently a bit harder to softmod. I'm not sure of the process, but some of the guides specify being compatible everything except the Korean system. |

The purchase comes with the system, one controller, one nunchuck, 4 burned games, and a wii wheel. I'm not sure what type of mod is done, but he did say it has 3.2u installed as firmware. Would I be better off buying a Korean wii at like Homeplus, and then modding it at Yongsan later? Could I purchase an American Wii in Korea somewhere? |

Yep 300k is way too much.
New Wii = 220K
Mod = 50K (softmod) 70-90 (modchip)
Wheel = ? 10K ?
4 burned games = ? 3-5K each ?
Basically he wants to get all his money back that he paid selling to you used.
Just so you know. |

I guess I won't be buying it from him. If I am to buy a Korean Wii, is it pretty simple to softmod it myself or would it better to get it modded in Yongsan? |

Where did you get your Wii modded? I'm currently in Bundang right now, so going to Yongsan is kind of out of the way. I was looking to buy the modded Wii from the guy because he says he bought it last week (relatively new with a receipt) and he is located in Bundang as well. |

Update: The guy sold his Wii for 300,000 already (don't really know to who).
Went out today and bought a Korean Wii for 220,000. Is there a way to softmod it without Twilight Princess? I've heard that people can do it now. |
