I gave up the idea of buying an HD5850.......too rich for my blood.....

So, I tried to buy an ATI HD4890 graphics card on Danawa last night. The prices looked pretty good. About 6 models were under 300,000. The cheapest being 237,000. Great. That's a sweet price for an HD4890.

So, my wife is ready with her credit card and we clicked to buy the HIS model at 237,000........out of stock......darn....so we went to another HIS model at 250,000.....out of stock......crap.......undeterred, I continued to click on every model under 300,000......you guessed, out of stock......only models 320,000 or more were actually available to buy...

This would seem to be the pattern on the Danawa website now....advertise stuff very cheap to get people in, but don't actually stock it, in the hope that people will pay the higher price for the models that are actually in stock.

I won't be using Danawa from now on.....It's not even useful as a research tool because the prices are so outta whack.

http://www.enuri.com doesn't do this. Nor does http://www.icoda.co.kr/n_product/......although those websites are incredibly messy and only run properly with IE.

I wish Korea had a website like Newegg where out of stock items are clearly labeled.

Its a common thing on Dave's to lowball people's items they are selling with Danawa links.

Yeah, I've been hit a couple of times by these BS shops.

At least they told you your product was out of stock. With me they would call the next day and tell me that there was a pricing mistake and that they couldn't honor my purchase.

That being said, stick with Danawa links to major sites like Gmarket, auction, interpark, etc. I've never had a problem with them. There are standards and rules for sellers on those sites.

Do not buy from independent sellers/shops on Gmarket (aka PCnuri, or Compman!, (made-up names) etc.). 10 to 1 eamo, every failed purchase you had was from one of those guys, right?

Check the ratings of vendors on Gmarket. The higher the rating, the more reliable the seller. The lower the rating...the riskier the purchase.

Having said that I've purchase from two low-rated vendors (they were probably new) and everything turned out fine.

I've always had good experiences with Danawa. Ordered an LCD monitor, hard drive and RAM by using the site as a guide. There are alternatives such as Naver shopping but I've always stuck with Danawa.

Well, just to update you all, I couldn't find a single HD4890 under 320,000 in stock......not from the six or so major manufacturers that have a decent rep.

So, I ponied up the extra 60,000 and ordered an HIS HD5850!! Yes!!


Yongsan dealers are so retarded though. It's like they don't want to sell you something. I read that the HD4890 is flying off the shelves in the US because it can be had for less than $200 yet is only just trailing a 5850 in performance.

In fact, the 4890 is doing so well that ATI announced they won't discontinue it quite yet, even though it must be hurting their 5800 series sales.

But you can't get one in Korea for less than 320,000=$273!!
