| I wouldn't fight, unless I married a Korean woman, then I might. Otherwise just about the only country I would volunteer to fight in defence of would be Canada. |

Would a Korean 'resident' in a western country sign up to fight upon invasion?
Nah, doubt it. Like me feeling Korea shortly after any sign of trouble - I'm sure they'd be heading back to the motherland quicker than you could say....

Not running away and helping out in some way could help foster a new feeling amongst Koreans to their english-speaking visitors. |
Its been done already. Heard of the korean war?
The feeling lasted until the next generation happened. |

With all due respect is this some kind of joke or something??
I know this has been done to death, but to my mind the international community has bailed this nation out at least once in a full scale war. And the current climate of constant xenaphobia and exploitation is what we have. Were the South to emerge victorious they and only they would take the credit. If they lost I wonder who they would blame?!? And you can bet every anniversary they would pay sod all respect to allied nations that fought and died for their cause.
And lest we forget we are here to do a job that Koreans cannot do because they are not capable enough to do it. Most are on very restrictive visas (I cannot even apply for government health insurance on mine until after 3 months) which allows them little to know freedom at all and merely encourages gross exploitation. When we arrive the first thing we have to do is apply for an 'alien registration card' what a stupid name, I am not an alien can they not give it a more appropriate name? And in the event of serious crimes many foreigners are offered little to no legal recourse whatsoever.
I think most on here would probably help the North if anything lol
The only people that would be in a quandry are the ones with Korean spouses viz-a-viz this fact they are probably already in one though. If this forum, and several friends too, are anything to go buy, war might offer some necessary respite from the marriages.
I like Fromtheuk's suggestion that perhaps we should quote the terms of our visa or contract. Classic stuff that
Ive never heard of anything so stupid in my life.

Because my agency is a war-essential component of USFK, I am obligated by the KORUS defense alliance to stay in Korea if hostilities broke out.
However, I won't be doing any fighting. I'd be in one of the many huge underground bunkers scattered around Korea assisting the CinC-USFK in the war effort.
stevieg4ever- good justified assessment. If I were not working for USFK, I'd bail out before the first shot was ever fired. |

Exactly!
I mean don't get me wrong, in a confused and strange way I like Korea, but I prefer Korea when it isn't at war.
I might be tempted to say something like 'sorry its not in my culture i'm afraid, now do you mind helping me pack the frying pan and cutlery old boy'.

In the words of Nelson Munz "ya gotta nuke somethin..."
joking of course.
If I had a choice, I'd fight.
But knowing Koreans, I'd be sent into the meat grinder. |

| No, I don't think so. Ask yourself: Would South Koreans fight for any of us? |
