Friend of mine left his school yesterday (12/13). The school will cancel his e-2 visa. Does anybody know how many days he will officially have to exit the country? He bought a plane ticket for 12/20th. How many days? |

tell your friend to call immigration, you will hear almost every possible answer under the sun and most will be wrong

he should receive an exit order from immi and it's about 10-14 days from the day the visa was canceled. check with immi to make sure of the exit date if you dont receive the order from them. do not stay even one day past that date or you will likely pay a fine and will have difficulties getting a new visa if you intend to work here again. make sure you turn in your alien resident card to airport immi when you leave.
however, if he has a plane ticket and wants to spend a little more time here, all he has to do is go to immigration and they will give him a tourist extension of up to 30 days from the date of his exit order. they usually want to see the outgoing ticket and will normally only extend to the date of the ticket. you can't work during that extension period.
immi number is 1345 |

Thanks OculisOrbis:
I thought so, but he is paranoid because he left his residence and is staying at my house until he leaves. He had gotten into an agrument with his boss and just left. I'll give him the number and tell him not to worry about it. A couple bottles of CASS should relieve him of some stress.
Cheers Mate! |
