Lets make a separate thread only discussing Iphone Apps.
Here are the few I'm using now:
Air Video (stream video and your Itunes playlist from your PC to ANYWHERE!) 90% of the time I use this via Local Network. I do have it setup so I can watch my videos over the internet. I don't recommend you watch anything over 3G since it'll eat up your data. Watching over Wifi is great. The quality is amazing.
It took about 10-15 minutes to set everything up with the software on my PC.
Seoul Bus - This App is free and it gives you route information about Buses and also detailed information on the Bus Stops. It will even tell you how much time until the next bus arrives. It will not tell you which buses to take from point A to point B. Use the Maps App for that.
Jihachul - Subway App. Its free and simple to use. It will show you a map of the Subway station. If you want to see more of the surrounding area, just click on an icon that looks like a grid in the upper right and it'll take you to the Maps App.
Wingbus - Tells you about restaurants and places to eat near your area. Still missing a lot of information. It could get better as more people are using the Iphone. Better than nothing. |

Oooh, that Seoul Bus app looks good. Thanks for the link!
Apps I use regularly on my iPod Touch:
Wikipanion
New York Times
Time Mobile
NPR News
South Korea Travel Guide (helpful at times and less obvious than carrying around a Lonely Planet)
Google Earth
Skype
Rowmote (remote control for my mac's)
Facebook
Currency (currency tracker)
Mint.com (for tracking my U.S. bank account)
Balance (for manually keeping track of my KEB account)
iFitness (possibly the best workout tracking app there is)
Touch Goals (for setting up life goals and tracking them)
Epicurious (for cooking)
Convert Everything Free
Stupid games I play too much of:
Hero of Sparta
Tap Tap Revenge 3
iBowl
Glyder
I Love Katamari
Zombie Hunter 7 Day |

Pretty much everything. Air Video is freaking awesome.
Files already in the Ipod format play immediately. There are 2 options for other video files not in Ipod format.
1. On the fly converting. Your PC will convert the video and stream it to your Iphone on the fly. It takes a couple seconds to "buffer" the video when you choose this option. Frankly, I found it loaded faster than Youtube videos. Obviously, if your computer is slow then it will take longer to convert the video.
2. You can Queue the video for conversion and play it back later.
I use On The Fly playing 99% of the time. The video quality is absolutely gorgeous. The Queue for conversion is a great feature. You got a ton of video and you don't want to mess with converting each of them manually? Just use Air Video and yoru iphone to tell your computer which video filies you want converted to Ipod format.
I'm am VERY surprised Air Video isn't the #1 App in Appstore.
*EDIT*
You can not stream video over 3G. Only Wifi. YOu probably wouldn't want to stream over 3G in Korea, you'd go over your data plan with 1 episode of Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. |

iKorway Korea - it's HUGE (over 100 MB) but the best Korea subway app that I've found, includes maps of the stations, bus connections, GPS functionality (I guess, can't use it myself) and lots more including a favourite list.
Bejweled 2 - it's a game but addictive
Clinometer - just looks cool and you can use it to check whether you can still walk straight (okay, it's a pimped up spirit level)
The Converter and Measures - convert about everything to something and update exchange rates from the web
Superpoke Pets - because there's nothing as reassuring as nurturing a panda baby or other cute animal, also useful if you miss the real SPP online
Daum Maps - all in Korean but they have a great streetview
Facebook, Xing, LinkedIn, Skype, Fring, Nimbuzz...
Google Earth, Google Maps
Dungeon Hunter... just never enough time to play it
Rolando, Topple and Enigmo - three good games
Simcity - all but unplayabe with the touch interface, but looks great
Mafia Wars, Vampires, Scramble - aaaah... from Zynga
Fluff Friends - more like Superpoke Pets
iKorail - for those who need info on train connections
Declan Korean, LearnHangul, AccelaStudy Korean, PocketKorean Lite...
Mind you, there are some very useful apps that can be installed only from Cydia and on a jailbroken iPhone... for example:
iBirthdays, some app that adds mini photos to your contact list (using the ones from the contact details page), Last.fm, SHOUTcast, Winterboard, Categories, Darkness (shows you sunrise, sunset etc.)
Already deleted dozens of apps that were cool but ultimately never used. |

Thats one thing I find very puzzling in Korea is the lack of unlimited data on mobile/smart phones. |

By the way, does the iPhone in Korea support WiFi connections? I read that there will be one restriction on the iPhone sold here, but I'd guess that would be the GPS? |

I think unlimited data is why AT&T has so many troubles back in the U.S.
If I had unlimited data, I'd be watching streaming video all the time and making Skype calls (since I put a 3G hack on it). My plan gives me 1GB of data usage and looking at my usage so far, it seems sufficient.
Does anyone happen to know how much the fee is to break the 2 year contract? Also, in regards to the insurance option, do they give you 500,000 won credit towards the purchase of a new phone? What if the 4G option is out at that point, can you get it? Seems like it would be a convenient time to drop the iPhone in a toilet. |

Can you repost that question in the Iphone sticky? I'd like to keep this thread talking solely about Iphone Apps. |

Air Mouse (a wireless mouse for your computer)
Units
Dictation (types what you speak to dictate emails)
Bank of America (to check money in the States)
AOL Radio

The restriction (dropped feature) on the iPhone in Korea is the "Find My Phone" feature. In other countries, those with MobileMe can log into MobileMe and find a lost Phone. You can type in a message to be displayed on the phone (example: This is a lost phone, please call....). If that fails to get a response, you can use MobileMe to find the location of the phone via GPS. However, the Korean government thought that might violate the privacy of phone thieves and had Apple drop the feature in Korea. God forbid we violate the privacy of phone thieves. I'm sure someone will come along with a hack that allows the feature, but until then we are left without it.
Back to the topic of this thread:
Some apps that I use frequently are Dropbox and 1Password Pro. Units is also a nice app for converting metric to SAE. |
