phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

I keep getting this for this website, sometimes i have to click something 20 times, get 20 messages, then it'll load, sometimes it goes through straight away or afte a couple of errors...pretty annoying.

Anyone else getting this? I browse with firefox.

You must be using the old website address. Some of us have the new software. The new website colors are green and blue. Are you looking at the old site (2002 software)? You might want to switch over...

Be thankful that is all that happens, from time to time. It used to be impossible to get onto the site, at all, around 9pm Korea time, not that long ago. It was difficult to submit posts as well. It would just hang there, sometimes for hours.

I heard it has something to do with the site being backed-up. That's why it happens at the same time.

The 9 pm thing doesn't happen anymore. The pbhh thing could be from backing up because if you keep hitting refresh, it will eventually pop up. The 9pm thing happened at the exact same time every night and rarely at other times. I'm not convinced it was a backing up thing.

It's not just firefox. IE, safari, chrome, it happens all the time.

It could just be this site is loaded up with tons of people and multiple posts happening at once.

I heard once that Dave's does it on purpose. That way you keep clicking and keep returning over and over again. All those page loads and such add up. Advertisers like to see how many visitors and views your site gets a day. The more people that come, the more you can charge for ad space.

Never happens on my laptop from home, i guess it must just be the time i use it-Never seen it on any other forum, just this one.

I thought backing up happens daily, not by the minute...

What do you mean the new address?? Im bookmarked as http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/

For me this phb thing is quite a problem (well more of a nuisance)....eg today its happened maybe 11 times, only been on for about an hour.

I think it may be when the Mods delete something.

On another board that I use we get a similar error message anytime that something is deleted.

It happens all the time to me, too. I usually just keep hitting refresh and it usually pops up pretty quick.

The only time it's annoying is when you are trying to submit a post.

The phpBB error is a glitch in the system; the Mods have nothing to do with it. We get it, too, just like everyone else.
