I think so. What about you? Should he be given the Order of Canada?

He's a good man, for sure. One of the greats on Canadian TV. I agree, OP.

Mr. Dressup passed away a few years ago. Red Green should be in the running, though personally I thought Harold was funnier! I also liked Gordon, the lonely forest ranger, Bill, and the pyromaniac guy who ended every sentence with "kaboom!"

Loved that guy when I was about 12. Now he sounds like a complete idiot. Should have retired about 10-15 years ago.

The order of Canada has some issues, but those issues would only be made worse by bringing Cherry into the fold. If the idea behind the Order is to honour those who have made a contribution, I'm not sure Cherry really qualifies. HNIC personality, yes. Positive contribution, no.

Like the other poster said. Don Cherry should have retired decades ago.

In my opinion he is nothing but a television mouthpiece. Just because he acts tough and flaps his chops in a politically incorrect way (which in Canada, I will admit, is refreshing once in a while) doesn't mean he should be given Canada's award for positive contribution to Canadian society. It would do nothing but cheapen the award which is already not held that high in regard. Hell, my granpa got it for music and for 99.9% of the Canadian population he was a nobody.

I don't get to watch coaches corner all that often, but most times when I do get to see it Don is trying to encourage kids to play fair, try hard, and to protect themselves. Not only that but he is a true patriot. Also he is not afraid to speak his mind. He deserves the order of canada more than some other people.

He also puts down Europeans and encourages players to hit hard.

What, they took it away from David so they decided to give it to his second cousin?

another reason he deserves the order of Canada is that he pisses off bleeding heart, politically correct liberals to no end.

I know.

Exactly.

Don Cherry deserves to get it today about as much as Dr. Dressup does posthumously.
