lately, whenever i use the word 'something' (like, "tell me something about your family"), it elicits sniggers from the kids and they parrot "sahm-ting."
Was this in a kpop song or what? It's annoying that I have to avoid so many words in my language because it's part of some stupid pop song or TV ad. |

'Something' sounds like 'same same' a Korean Konglish word for 'same thing' That might be what the kids are being amateur about. |

wasn't too long ago you couldn't get past the "tell me" part of that sentence... |

Haha true. Then there were three "sorry" songs in a row.
I've spent the week explaining that "loser" is definitely not a synonym for "short".
I don't know about the something thing. I'll ask my students tomorrow. |
