Check out this story.
Over the past month or so I've been keeping my eye on this group of what I thought were Mongolians on there way too and from the ice rink where they're practicing for the Olympics in January.
The reason I've been keeping my eye on them is they wear this jacket with the North Korean flag on it.
I live in a community where there are a lot of Koreans. Koreans going to school, Korean Canadians, Koreans visiting Koreans in Canada...yaddie yaddie...
These guys inevitably get asked about the flag. I have heard this woman, who I believe now to be there handler explain to whomever that they are Mongolian and they got the jackets on some trip to North Korea. And no they do not speak Korean.
Then today, this lady sits down in front of me thinking I don't have a clue and passes one of the athletes this Sudoku game and says something like, " 한 두게 만 ...집에 가..."
I immediately break off the questions "어디에서 왔어요? 조선 사람 이지요?"
And sure enough they were! Imagine that North Koreans training in Canada for the Olympics. I garantee they are told before coming over do not talk to any Koreans. |

Not BC different province all together.
Man I want North Koreans to get into trouble. Big fat speed skating trouble.
It just kinda makes me made Canada let those fools train here. |

There was some North Korean basketball player that had to go to Toronto for a few days because some NBA scouts wanted to take a look at the guy. Apparently the US don't give out visas for North Koreans that often, only exceptions are diplomats. I think it was back in 2004 or sometime around then.
Anyways, there are a lot of North Koreans in North America, but most of them got out of the North before the end of the Korean war. So most are pretty old now. Young North Koreans will be harder to find. |
