Random, I know.
But wanted to make bigos (a traditional Eastern European dish), and need this important ingredient...anyone came across sauerkraut while grocery shopping???

Thx!

The Meil deli in Itaewon sells fresh sauerkraut, and you can also find jarred sauerkraut in the foreign food market.

Chef Meil's sauerkrat is very good, imo.

Now Meili is quite expensive so if it doesn't have to be fresh made, check out the Deli sections of Shinsgae and Lotte for canned SK. Take a brand that has German on it Wink

Also, it's really easy to make. I made sauerkraut my first few years here in Korea. There are lots of websites if you're interested.

I buy mine from nicedeli.com. It is a nice site and they offer a variety of goods. The delivery service is great.

Why not make your own? It's really really easy. All you have to do is wash and cut the cabbage, then sprinkle it with a little bit of salt. Then put it in some container and put pressure on it. I put the salted cabbage in a kimchi jar, then put a clean plastic plate resting on the cabbage, then put a 1kg weight on top. That's it. After a few days scoop some up and enjoy!
