I am currently applying for an E-2 Visa, however, my degree does not contain my middle name. I was told that this may cause me problems. Does anyone have any experience or information? |

It means he also wants to know the answer to your question, so he posted a "bump" to move it to the top of the list of threads in the forum. |

According to my recruiter, what matters is that all names on all documents are stated in the same manner. So, if your transcripts and background check do not have your middle name either, then you should be okay.
I don't have a middle name so I didn't have to worry about this, but I imagine your background check includes your middle name (sorry!). As for your transcripts, I was told that standard practice is to order an extra copy to check how your name looks, OR to contact your school and ask them how they print names.
As for your documents 'slipping through', it sounds like many things for visas are determined on a case-by-case basis. For example, I recently posted about needing transcripts from all schools attended; some people need just the one from their final institutes, other consulate officials require all of them.
Best of luck!! |

Sadly my transcripts have my middle initial. And my transcripts from my other university have my middle name. My diploma just has my first and last name.
What a nightmare! |

From what I understand, you MAY have problems if some official documents contain your middle name and others do not. In Korea, they just don't seem to understand middle names. All of my documents have my middle name on it (which I've always hated, but I knew for official documents it was always a good thing to have them written) so I didn't have to worry.
Anyway, my question is this: do your transcripts have your middle name? I ask because (at my school at least), the degree itself was 'personalized' to the names people chose to go by, but the corresponding transcripts always had the full name written out. That might be helpful in explaining your diploma if you are asked. |

My transcript does. My ARC card does. My K driving license does. My visa application did. Maybe my CRC did, can't remember.
Anyway, this should not be a problem and personally, I would not worry if I were you. |

You've gotta relax. Korea might eat you alive if you get this worked up over something that's relatively minor. |

Thanks for all the helpful answers. I ordered a revised diploma, which might get here on time. I'm thinking that I may have no problem because my documents were notarized with no questions.
It just sucks for such a minor detail because my NOA is on its way. My transcripts have my middle initial. However, I called the consulate and they said a letter explaining from the university would help.
If something should mess up how long does is it beofre one can reapply for a visa? |

I've gotten two E-2 visas with a diploma/transcripts with last and first name only and a passport with first, last and middle name. I wouldn't worry too much about the discrepancy, they probably deal with this regularly. |
