Not sure if you guys have seen the new hiring package...it's pretty much standard stuff if you're a new teacher. But for those of us that've been here a couple of years, it's not pretty. Particularly the removal of the clause that allowed for part-time work before if your principal approved of it. In essence, it's just like SMOE now where you can't have a part-time job. That's been a kick in the shins...it's the only reason I worked Gepik, I should've just applied to SMOE instead. Crying or Very sad

Also, I believe there've been changes to the salary scale at the top...and instead of making 2.5M like I had projected, I'm knocked back down to 2.3M....

Trying to find the good in all of this, but feeling deflated guys...god. I think I made more money at my part-time job at the bookstore in college. Yikes.

Haven't seen the contract yet.
Where'd you get it?

Recruiter sent out the new updated contract to me.

It is for the most part the same...but for a few of us out there, the small changes they've made will have a large impact.

The 2010 EPIK contract has a few not-so-great changes either - Most notably, the clause about sick days and the fact that you have to get a doctors note every time you're sick, not just for prolonged illnesses. There's also an addition that states that useage of sick days will be considered when the POE/DOE/school is deciding whether or not to renew you. Super.

Did your bookstore fly you to the other side of the planet and give you a place to live for 1 year?

Either it's like a 6,000 dollar investment or if you accept the security deposit crapola system we got here, then you are being supported with another 5-10,000 dollars you don't have to put up.

I don't see how any bookstore job back where I grew up would come close to what I have here. I might get some deals on books, but other than that, I don't see how you would make more money.
