They speak quite a bit, actually. A bit less near the end of the movie. I thought the movie was awesome. 100% for pure escapist entertainment and no annoying characters. If you're expecting a movie with the craziest surprise ending and twistiest of twisty plots then you might not like it.

Plus it's a really timely release since we're on the verge of discovering planets of just about that size in other solar systems.

Ah, I remember I got that when I was watching 2012 and they started speaking Tibetan and Chinese. I was lucky enough to understand the french. Razz

Maybe I should wait to watch Avatar when I get back then.

I was told it's categorized in movies like Dances with Wolves or the Emerald Forest, only more sci-fi. Would that be a correct assumption?

Just got back from seeing it in 3-D. Was totally awesome for the first 20 minutes but then it just ends up being a head ache.

The action and general visual design of the thing was ground breaking.

The story, however, was barf worthy. The standard noble savage narrative mixed in with Gaea man is destroying the Earth parable. Give me explosions and mech assault vehicles and beast warriors. Keep the sermon, thanks.

About the original topic, I saw it in the CGV Ilsan IMAX 3D theater, and there were subtitles for eveything except the parts we were meant not to understand (so we would empathize with the protagonist) - maybe 5 sentences the whole film. The Alien subtitles were in big yellow legible font. I actually felt sorry for the monolingual Koreans in the audience. They paid a hefty movie ticket price and were rewarded with a beautiful picture but pale gray-white subtitles that seemed to float "behind" the action at the very bottom of the screen. It must have been annoying.

BTW, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Visually, it was a moving work of art. I do think a lot of the movie's power would have been lost if not seen in 3D, however.

I'm actually wondering if I should go see it again in 3D myself. Once it's gone from the theatre I won't be able to see it again that way.

I'm being told that this person and this person look like the main character (as a Na'vi) and the girl.

So is this yet another case where some theatres are showing the non-English parts with English subtitles and some aren't?

Wow.

Yes, their chief focus is the English teacher audience. 50 million Koreans and 25,000 English teachers and they are more concerned about the English Teachers.
