Not gonna change anything, but this song will be playing around my apartment for the next 7-8 weeks.

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Karen she's a silver sun
You best walk her way and watch it shinin'
Watch her watch the mornin' come
A silver tear appearing now I'm cryin'
Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind

There ain't no doubt it no ones mind
That loves the finest thing around
Whisper something soft and kind
And hey babe the sky's on fire, I'm Dyin'
Ain't I goin' to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Dark and silent late last night
I think I might have heard the highway calling
Geese in flight and dogs that bite
Signs that might be omens say I'm going, going
I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

With a holy host of others standing 'round me
Still I'm on the dark side of the moon
And it seems like it goes on like this forever
You must forgive me
If I'm up and gone to Carolina in my mind

In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sunshine
Can't you just feel the moonshine
Ain't it just like a friend of mine
To hit me from behind
Yes I'm goin' to Carolina in my mind

Nice one Illy Sook...nothing like some "I'll Fly Away"

Here's my take on As Someday it May Happen aka I've Got a Little List from The Mikado by Gilbert & Sullivan

As someday it may happen that a victim must be found
I've got a little list- I've got a little list
Of Korea offenders who might well be underground
And who never would be missed- who never would be missed

There's the adjumma who cuts in front of you without any mind
And the dong-chimming kids who poke your nice behind
The diners at the restaurant who slurp their soup so loud
And the cell phone guy who bumps his way on through the crowd
And the mom who on serving kimchi always does insist
They'd none of them be missed, they'd none of them be missed.

He's got 'em on the list- he's got 'em on the list
And they'll non of 'em be missed- they'll none of 'em be missed

There's the sparkly tie wearer and the others of his style
And the KT columnist- I've got him on the list!
And the teachers who give you fruit in one enormous pile
They never would be missed- they never would be missed

There's the English Teacher who's always griping up a storm
And who always shares his opinion regardless of the forum
And the boy who's riding the pink bicycle all around the town
And who prefers dressing like a flaming circus clown
And that internet abomination, the Korea apologist-
i don't think he'd be missed, I'm sure he'd not be missed.

He's got 'em on the list- he's got 'em on the list
And they'll non of 'em be missed- they'll none of 'em be missed

And the guy who nearly ran you over on your way to work
The motorscooterist- I've got him on the list!
All bureaucrats, officers, and the immigration clerk
They'd none of them be missed- they'd none of them be missed.

And that guy who's telling me I speak Korean very well
Plus the flower boy who's hair is comprised entirely of gel
And the ajosshi who at the bar comes and sits down next to you
And who won't beg to leave until he's barfed up all his soju
But anyways I think by now you must've got the gist
For they'd none of 'em be missed - they'd none of 'em be missed.

You may put 'em on the list - you may put 'em on the list
And they'll none of 'em be missed - they'll non of 'em be missed.

minimal changes - South Korea is eerily similar to 1950's America.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of kimchi
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of kimchi
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same,
And there's doctors and lawyers,
And hagwon executives,
And they're all made out of kimchi
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their soju dry,
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to academy
And then to the university,
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of kimchi
And they all look just the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one,
And they're all made out of kimchi
And they all look just the same.

The Midnight Runner Song! (Compliments to Jimmy Webb)

By the time I get to Incheon she'll be rising
She'll find the note I left hangin' on her door
She'll freak when she reads the part that says I'm leavin'
'Cause I've left them hagwons so many times before

By the time I make Osaka she'll be working
She'll prob'ly stop at lunch and give me a call
But she'll just hear that phone keep on ringin'
Off the wall that's all

By the time I make Vancouver she'll be sleepin'
She'll turn softly and call my name out loud
And she'll cry just to think I'd really leave her
Tho' time and time I try to tell her so
She just didn't know I would really go.

Vicky, don't leave that hagwon:

We hear you're leaving, that's OK
I thought our new contract had just begun
I guess you kind of scared yourself, you turn and run
But if you have a change of heart

CHORUS:

Vicky, don't leave that hagwon
You don't wanna call nobody else
Send it off in a letter to yourself
Vicky don't leave that hagwon
It's the only one you've known
You might need it if you're unemployed,
When you get home

I have a recruiter in town, he's heard your name
We can go out driving on Omokyo,
We could stay in school and play games, I don't know
And you could have a change of heart

CHORUS

You tell yourself you're not the ESL kind
But you don't even know your mind
And you could have a change of heart

CHORUS

Khe Sahn: Cold Chisel

I left my hearts to the NETs at hagwon
and my soul was sold with my sanity to the wonjangnim.
I had South Korea cold turkey
from the ocean to the Seoul City
and it's only other NETs could understand.

About the long forgotten contract guarantees
there was no visa BS in 2003
How we landed at Incheun Airport
saw the smog but thought it was fog
No on met us, we're on our own.

And it was like so many more from that time on.
Our lives were so empty, till we found soju
our wallets were often open
but our noses were always closed
and our legs were held in E-2 visa chain.

and the 황사 was yellow, hours long, paypackets lean,
and the hagwon students chattered
where my keenness once had been
but the ajosshies made me jumpy
and I never got my sleeps
or the growing need for soju, samgyeupsal

So I worked across the country end to end
Tried to find a place to settle down
where my student loans could be repaid.
Held a job in a Uni
teaching privates when I could
But the nightlife nearly drove me round the bend.

And I've travelled around the Bando from year to year.
And each one found me aimless,
one more year the more for wear.
And I've been back to South East Asia
But the asnswer sure ain't there
But I'm drifting South, to check things out again.

You know the last plane out of Incheun's almost gone.
Only three flying hours, and I'll be landing in Tokyo.
There's ain't nothing like the smiles
from Happy Happy Tokyo hostess
I'm gonna hit some Love Hotel futon all night long.

Well the last plane out of Incheun's almost gone.
Yeah the last plane out of Incheun's almost gone.
And it's really got me worried
I'm going nowhere and I'm in a hurry.
And the last plane out of Incheun's almost gone.

Very little change needed. (For all the foreign English teachers that have had difficulties with Korean coteachers, or hagwon directors:)

You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
When I was co-teaching,
You just stood there grinning

You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
The side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
And you know it

I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
You're in with

Do you take me for such a fool
To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
You always act surprised
You say, "How are you?" "fine thanks"
But you don't mean it

When you know as well as me
You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once
And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
Perhaps I'd rob them

And now I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
Don't you understand
It's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
To see you

To the tune of "Maria" from West Side Story ...

Korea ... The most beautiful sound I've ever heard

Korea, Korea, Korea, Korea ...

All the beautiful sounds in the world in a single word ...

Korea, Korea, Korea, Korea ...

KOREA!

I just got a job in Korea,

And suddenly my brain

Will never be sane ... again.

Korea!

A guy just pissed on a bus in Korea,

And suddenly I found

My feet wet on the ground ... with spit.

Korea! Say it loud and there's K-Pop a playing,

Say it soft and the kimchi is laying ... on the floor.

Korea!

I'll never quit working in Korea!

The most beautiful job I ever had was in ...

Korea.

Maybe someone can do a funnier one with it ...

To the tune of Gin and Juice (Phish cover)

So much drama in the ROK, IT'S KINDA HARD BEIN' ADJEOSSHI.
But I somehow, someway, keep teachin' those funky eish kids nearly er' single day.

Can I kick a lil something, for the Ks, and, make a few chingus.

Don't you know it's 6 in the morning and Hongdae's still jumpin'
'Cause no drinkin laws.

I got waegooks in Jane's Groove gettin' it on
and the subway don't run til 6:00 in the mornin'

So, what you wanna do?
I got a bottle full of soju and my homeboys do too.

So play some Big Bang and,
Brown Eyed Girls.

But (but what)
We don't love them whores.

And we gonna smoke Thisplus to this.

Cass up, Hite down,
Let you waegooks drink to that.

Now I been rollin' down the street, smokin Raison,
sippin on soju,
laid back,
with my mind on my won and my won on my mind.

Rollin' down the street, smokin Raison,
sippin on Dongdongju,
laid back,
with my mind on my won and my won on my mind.
