Like the subject title reads, are there any good uni jobs for people without MA's? More specifically, universities in Seoul.

I have a BA in an unrelated major to English (International Studies/Relations) and this is my first year teaching (and I'm at an elementary school).

Seems rather bleak, doesn't it? But I've never been one to give up easily. Also, I have a family friend tenured at Ehwa Women's Uni. Maybe some points there? My co-teachers also love me.

Could I just kill during interviews? Also, I'm wondering if it's even worth applying to positions which require an MA. I wonder if I could just convince them to hire me. "Having an MA is highly overrated *ajdusts monacle* and is no longer in fashion."

There are usually jobs out there for non-MAs, but there's a lot of competition this year. You need to apply to tons of schools, and you shouldn't expect to hear back from most of them.

The only chances you have are if you:

a. Know someone there
b. Can sneak in at the last minute after someone bails.

Yes.

But don't underestimate the power of these two options. Almost everyone I know working at unis just has a BA and got in thanks to (a) or (b) haha.

Start applying in February for the March jobs =) You missed the 'proper' application time already, and probably wouldn't have done well with your lack of quals and experience. You might do well in Feb when schools are desperate though.

Thanks for the info everyone! It's really too bad these jobs start in March... augh. I'm currently on SMOE and am on contract until August. Any way to occupy an Aug-March gap on an E-2?

I'm thinking about next year, I suppose.
