Hi,
I just had a few questions about what I could expect in my particular circumstance.
I already hold a BA in Business Administration with a minor in secondary ed. I am also certified to teach this curriculum. Right now, I am working on my masters in Literacy and will be done in May. My cumulative undergrad GPA was a 3.7 and my current GPA at the grad level is a 4.0.
I have read that university positions are pretty hard to come by and that you need particular skills sets. Do you think I would qualify for one of these positions? Thanks a lot. |

If you are wondering:
can I get a teaching job in Korea? Yes.
In Uni? Yes.
You may have some misconceptions about teaching in Korea,
but since you've not revealed any yet, let's wait for others fill you in on it. |

What? To your parents?
I was nodding my head up until this point. Haha. |

I've written an e-book on this you can download: http://keneckert.com/esl/guide/index.html. It's not perfect but it's free.
Your qualifications are fine but you have no experience teaching in Korea; both are important for moving up the food chain. Second, don't assume that hogwan jobs are bad and uni jobs are good. Korean unis are not very regulated and so there's a long distance from KAIST to Lee's University of Kimchi, which may have worse pay and treatment of staff than a good hogwan or public school job.
Have a look at my site and see if this helps. But don't believe everything I (or anyone else here) writes. Take what is written on Dave's with a grain of salt. Best wishes. |

Moldy,
Good work on composing a guide to teaching and working in Korea. It takes much time and many a hard effort to make such a contribution!
There's a stray period in the URL you provided, so it went to an error page when I clicked on it. Everyone, here's the working link: http://keneckert.com/esl/guide/index.html.
Hopefully Google will pick up your website and allow prospective teachers to peruse it |

Have you ever seen "Planet of the Apes"? Watch it. Then you will know what it's like to be in Korea. |

You're less likely to spend any money you save if your parents hold it. He's a recent grad, so he's still young. If you are wise enough to hold your own savings, by all means.

Ha! Seriously!? Don't project your own inability to maintain responsibility onto the rest of the ESL community. Good god, that's just ridiculous. |
