Well, I'm buying a wii this weekend. I would like to install a solderless Drivekey modchip.

Has anyone had success with it on the Korean system? Were you able to buy the modchip here or did you order it and have it shipped here?

I only want to play NTSC backup games, so I am not concerned with it bricking while updating due to a PAL game.

Can the Korean system interface be changed to English? Or does that require a software modification? I really only want to add a solderless modchip. I don't want to change too much. It looks like this new Drivekey modchip allows for instant boot of original and backup games. Is it really that easy?

What modchip is in your system? Are you having to run software also? Or does your modchip auto start backups?

Cheers

Would also like to know. I just picked up a new Wii (has been updated to latest FW though) and want to get it modded to have at least English menus.

Would like to add something to the OP's question.

Does anyone know where in Yongsan to go for Wii issues?

I'll be going on Tuesday with a co worker to try to get my bricked Wii sorted out and am not sure where to go.

If only I had been told not to try PAL games in my modded Korean system..Crying or Very sad

OP if you want I can ask around while there ie the solderless Drivekey.

I have the Wiikey modchip myself but I'll be there anyway and can sure ask for prices and if it's possible to do.

Sure.

That would be great. I will be headed up to Seoul for New Years. Will get it done then.

Still undecided on a softmod or a modchip though.

Just got back from several visits to Yongsan where I found a friendly dude that speaks good English who was able to take care of everything.

In his words, there is always a fix for anything that happens to modded Wiis. Everytime Nintendo comes out with a new firmware upgrade causing bricks and other problems, give him 2 weeks and his techie has found a solution to it. This will be my go to guy in the future.

His game selection is OK, but honestly I have many more than he does as I've gotten pretty much every one out there on torrent sites. Plus at 7,000 to 10,000 a game...shine on BT.

I asked him about the solderless clip-on chip (I made sure he understood), and he said that he hasn't heard of it (he might just be saying this) and that he charges 80,000 (bit steep) for a regular mod chip job (WiiKey2).

The guy I go to at the Kukje Electronics Tower (right by Nambu Bus Terminal) charges 50,000w for Modchip, 30,000w for softmod.

He uses the D2Sun (I think tahts the name) mod chip.

Either way, it works perfect. I installed USB Loader and got an External hard drive, and its playing games perfectly. No more burning discs or Error 002's.
