I need some suggestions for a Christmas movie to show my students. I'm looking for low-intermediate language, good entertainment, and lots of points in the movie where I can pause and check for comprehension, prediction, and vocabulary knowledge.

That's a pretty boring movie, no offense. Depressing, too. I'll try Home Alone out tonight on my computer.

I just caught Clark's sledding scene on Christmas Vacation last night. Any kid would love it! All those lights too.

Not for the kiddies though.

one truly sparkling thing about Korea is escaping the over the top Christmas nonsense statside and that horrid Christmas music.

Here however is a nice "festive" song.

how about including that one in your class along as well? Twisted Evil

or perhaps something a little more laid back?

If you want to bore the balls off your students then Home Alone is the movie to go with.....it's a good movie, but has been shown to death on tv here in Korea - just about every kid has seen it at least a dozen times.

Well, I brought in two worksheets with Christmas vocabulary to insert into a Christmas themed dialogue. It went well. Then I showed them a PPT of each Christmas vocabulary item they had written into their sentences (e.g. eggnog, mistletoe, reindeer [caribou], Christmas Eve, mass, merry, jolly, decorative). I rewarded correct answers with Christmas chocolates. In the PPT I showed them pictures from home, a photograph of me in a Christmas play, and other pictures of snowstorms in my hometown. At the end, we had about 10 minutes left to watch particular parts of a movie. I brought in Home Alone 1, Home Alone 2, and A Christmas Story. So far, the first class chose Home Alone 1, and my second class chose A Christmas story, a movie far better suited for pulling out comprehension and vocabulary out of students.

There's a fire drill today. However, I've been told that teachers can stay inside the school during it. What kind of sense does that make? I'll suffer the warmth of a heated room, though.
