The subject says it all: do I tell my co-worker, whom I like, that his loud gum cracking is incredibly annoying?

I don't know the answer to this. My co-teach literally spits on her fingers before she turns a page. That is almost as annoying. But definitely more disgusting.

Get some really annoying CD to cover it up and play it loud enough to be irritating. Peking opera comes to mind. If he complians you can tell him frankly why you're playing it.
Or you could learn to say in Korean loud gum chewing is annoying". When he starts smacking gum you can just say that over and over and over and over over.
Or you could just tell him directly to stop being so loud.

I think you have to tell them, but if they are Korean maybe don't tell them in front of Korean, has Koreans hate to be criticized or corrected in front of other people.

One of the female Korean teachers has the bad habit of saying "why" in an annoying Korean whiny tone when students ask something of her or call her. It just bothered me, but after awhile I noticed a lot of students using this annoying "Why" answer whenever I said their names or ask something of them. I got tired of explaining to my students that this was rude and in English speaking like this would be bad form.

At the end, it annoyed me so I told the other teacher. She was a little surprised at first, but doesn't say it anymore.

My co-teacher would always greet students in the teaching room with 'Hey Boy' and 'Hey Girl'. I would always follow her with 'Superstar DJ! Here we go!'. Finally I told her it wasn't an appropriate way to greet a student.

OP, try mimicking your co-teacher, when he stares at you just say 'Annoying isn't it'.

Nice Chemical Bros reference.

I have a co-teacher that sits next to me and sucks his teeth.

OP: My co-teacher did the same thing during last summer break. I found it very irritating, and so I simply addressed her directly. I asked her to stop making smacking and sucking noises while she was chewing her gum, and she complied. If she hadnt, then I would have brought the issue up with the VP, because I know that he wouldnt have put up with it either. Kindly tell her directly.

Jesus man, grow some testes. Unless this person is a super-sensitive superior of yours, just tell them you don't like it! You'd be amazed at how much you can get in life just by telling people what you want.
