This weekend I visited 02 resort. Last year I frequented High 1, but thought I'd try this smaller resort to avoid the crowds. Please understand, I am not comparig this to a western resort, but to another Korean one. 02 is horrible. It was so windy that visibilty was zero and it was dangerous out there. In short, they should have closed the resort. The slopes were pure ice (much worse than High 1), the staff were unhelpful, the rental equipment was the worst I've ever seen, and the price was about the same as nearby High 1.
Oh yeah, and their company policy is 'no refunds' (never, for any reason).
My advice to you: AVOID THIS RESORT AT ALL COSTS! |

I just watched a couple of video clips from High 1. Are all the bumps in the slope evened out? I have never gone skiing in Korea but used to go snowboarding 2-3 days a week in my youth. I don't expect the most challenging slopes, but as a snowboarder I want at least some bumps so it's possible to do some jumps or 360ties. Is it possible to find bumps or jumps or is it just zig zagging down the trail? |

Hi,
No real jumps on the slopes I'm afraid, although they're working on a half pipe, and they have a 'fun park' which they open seemingly randomly! |

Try Phoenix Park or Vivaldi (Daemyun),
Last year Phoenix had their lift tickets set at a ridiculous 80,000 won for a day. Absolutely ridiculous. You needed to find a package tour or discount coupon in order to make it affordable. However that seems to be the way things are in Korea....stupid high prices yet there is an unofficial price that is available online. It was usually about 50,000 won or so for a bus a day pass package. It's still like that, about 60,000 won for a day pass.
So get a Korean friend to pre-buy a day package if you plan to ski or ride in Korea in the future.
There are a few other ways to get discounts, season pass holders can get a 30% discount for friends and some rental shops around the resorts offer discount rental and lift ticket packages (usually enough to get your rentals for free).
Neither resort offers bumps or rollers. There are parks and pipes though, but playing around on the run is limited.
Conditions at most Korean resorts will be icy. |
