|

I just was interviewed by a recruiter who told me that it would be near impossible to secure a joint placement for my friend and me in Seoul (we both have 100 hour TESL certificates). She said if we wanted to be at the same school we would have to be willing to go to a different city. This caught me a bit off guard, as I thought most of the people (hence, most of the teaching positions) were in Seoul. So I have a few questions:
1.) Is the job market in Seoul really so tough that it would be "near impossible" to place two TESL certified teachers at the same school?
2.) Does anyone know of a recruiting agency that is more able to accommodate our request?
3.) We did start to look at other cities, in case it comes to that. We've narrowed it down to Busan and Daegu. What would be the benefits and drawbacks to each city?
If anyone can answer one or all of these questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much. |

Hiring season is in March, so something will definitely come up around then.
Don't settle for any less than what you want, it may be hard, but not impossible. Work with another recruiter if you have to. |

| Loosely translated, this means that the specific recruiter in question can't find you a job in Seoul. Pepper every recruiter out there with your resume and slap your credetials and job search criteria on every job board out there. |

| If you want a PS job, then yes, it is near impossible to have 2 NSETs at one school since most PS schools only need one. Hagwons are a plenty. You can try an international school, but I'm sure they'll want more than a mere TESOL cert. (ie. BS Ed). |
