I'm going to go to the bank but wondering if anyone was in the same situation.
I hosted a party for a cause. Collected money and was a digit out (repeated one digit twice and left out another). Just found out today when I got a message saying that our donation didn't come in.
I'm not too worried about it as it's not too much money (under 300,000) but I'd still like it back. I'll be able to show them the first reciept, and the second reciept. The similarity in the numbers will be obvious. So anyone went through a similar experience? What are my chances? |

I have heard of that happening before. I think it depends upon the honesty of the account holder whether or not the money would be returned.
I think I remember banks saying something like the money did not have to be returned in the case of mistakenly being put in the wrong account. However, if the bank accidentally put money in a wrong account, the receiver has to give it back. I am just writing what I seem to remember, so I'm not sure of the validity. |

This is true. If it was a bank error, you can count on getting your money back. If it was your error, it depends on the account holder who received the money. |

If the dude says no, just tip off the charity/cause to his name (it comes up with his bank details on the screen). Let them sort it out. |
