Then you are assuming the claims are that the IDF were deliberately killing Palestinians for the express purpose of taking organs? That would be even more horrible than what I thought we were speculating about: i.e. taking organs from the dead without family consent.

Taking his organs for a live transplant would have proved tricky anyway - they start to die right away, so unless the IDF had an operating theatre in the helicopter they took him in, I seriously doubt that was what happened in his instance. They would have needed a special freezer compartment, and they would have had to already have matched him with a recipient. But taking his organs for medical students to learn from, or for scientific studies would be a different matter. Perhaps they even took him for a practise autopsy. Who knows? But the families have lived with the distress of seeing the autopsied bodies, and not knowing why, for many years. That's why an investigation should be done.

As for the investigation, nor do I. But it should be conducted by an impartial group. The highly biased Goldberg report makes that absolutely clear as The Economist pointed out.

Indeed. It certainly should not be the IDF who investigates itself, as often is the case unfortunately.

That's what it seems to be saying. Scroll down to the part of the article under Palestinian Disappearances Increase and read that part again keeping my comment in mind.

Yep, that seems to be the whole basis of the argument.

The Israelis attacked Gaza simply to collect body parts.

Pretty sick argument I would think. but hey, it worked before, lets hate all Israelis/Jews.

Fine then lets ask a completely neutral country to do it. If they find Israel innocent, then everyone has too'.

Told ya so!

Doctor admits Israeli pathologists harvested organs without consent

Israel has admitted pathologists harvested organs from dead Palestinians, and others, without the consent of their families a practice it said ended in the 1990s it emerged at the weekend.

The admission, by the former head of the country's forensic institute, followed a furious row prompted by a Swedish newspaper reporting that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to use their organs a charge that Israel denied and called "antisemitic".

The revelation, in a television documentary, is likely to generate anger in the Arab and Muslim world and reinforce sinister stereotypes of Israel and its attitude to Palestinians. Iran's state-run Press TV tonight reported the story, illustrated with photographs of dead or badly injured Palestinians.

Ahmed Tibi, an Israeli Arab MP, said the report incriminated the Israeli army.

The story emerged in an interview with Dr Yehuda Hiss, former head of the Abu Kabir forensic institute near Tel Aviv. The interview was conducted in 2000 by an American academic who released it because of the row between Israel and Sweden over a report in the Stockholm newspaper Aftonbladet.

Channel 2 TV reported that in the 1990s, specialists at Abu Kabir harvested skin, corneas, heart valves and bones from the bodies of Israeli soldiers, Israeli citizens, Palestinians and foreign workers, often without permission from relatives.

The Israeli military confirmed to the programme that the practice took place, but added: "This activity ended a decade ago and does not happen any longer."

Hey, I came here to post that.
