|

I'm looking to get a new mp3 player soon and am looking at what's out there now. I refuse to buy an ipod, but I'm open for other brands. I want something with a good range of video capabilities, decent quality and a relatively low price tag. 150,000 won is my limit.
The samsung p3 and r1 look pretty decent and seem to have been getting good reviews.
A friend of mine has the i-river e100 and while the screen is fairly small, it supports flv, meaning you can download from youtube or other sites and put it on the player without spending a lot of time converting. It also has sd expansion slots. The downsides seem to be the lack of touch-screen, and the small screen in general.
The iriver spinn looks pretty cool too. It has a nice big screen, an interesting interface, and tons of supported formats. It doesn't appear to have expansion slots, though.
Any other decent mid range mp3 players availabe in Korea? What are your thoughts concerning what's available now?
Also, why is an extra few gigs of storage so expensive? If you compare the differences in pricing for hard drives or flash drives, the cost seems to be a bit over inflated. |

In my opinion, Cowon D2 is by far the best thing you can buy in that price range. |

Sorry, but I don't agree.
I listened to all the raving praise of the Cowon D2 and bought one online.
I HATE IT!
The sound sucks. It is brittle sound, lacking detail. It is not as loud as it claims. You need efficient earphones.
The interface is classic Korean insanity. To do a simple task requires sometimes a dozen or more taps on the touch screen. KISS, Cowan! (KISS: Keep it simple, stupid!)
The good part is it has a high capacity battery. But I haven't had a chance to test it. It is just sitting in a drawer. The sound is unpleasant and the interface is infuriating. It was a royal waste of money.
The screen is too small for video, unless you have really good eyesight. And you still have to convert video.
There's lots of MP3 players with lots of features that cost less these days. But I will never, ever buy another Cowon. Vastly overhyped. |

My two main issues with the ipod are the price and i-tunes. Other players have much more direct, logical software that don't do things like automatically replace your library. Other players also have drag and drop functionality which ipods lack.
I'll check out the Cowon player. |

Agreed. Itunes is an effing dog. There are actually alternatives for non touch/iphones. I use "Floola" on my 4th gen. It has excellent drag and drop functionality. Ipods are slightly more expensive but it's because they're are miles ahead of anything similar in each category of mp3 player (at least in my opinion). |

how about a sanza fuze?
great little player. Ive had mine for over a year and no problems. The sound detail is great and it plays flac files. Plus it has a memory card slot. |

Just picked up my new 8gig spinn today. It's pretty sweet. Nice big screen. I just plug it in, drag a movie or album into the appropriate folder and play. Great sound and picture quality too. I wish it had a memory card slot and/or speakers, but it's pretty great regardless. |
