|

I teach in Seoul. One of my high school students wants to be a musical theater actress, and she's going to a theater hagwon right now.
I put her in touch with a friend of mine who's landing roles on Broadway, so she could ask her questions about what it takes to be successful.
I have a lot of acting friends, and it seems to me that success for them has boiled down to practice and to knowing what they're getting into.
When I asked the girl about her hagwon, she said they practice singing/dancing/acting there, but no ballet, no tap dancing. Worst of all, there's no business training (resume-building, auditioning, networking, mapping out a career plan).
I know back in the states, it was pretty easy to find support like acting career seminars. I assumed that this stuff would be hooked up by the hagwon, but it sounds like they just teach lessons and take the parents money.
Does anyone know somewhere in Seoul I can direct this girl to in order to get a no-Mod Edit assessment of what it will take for her to start her career? |

That somewhere (someone) is you.
The illusion that lessons and work, with winning contests are all one needs. |

Does that hagwon's graduates get jobs in the industry?
Is there anyone famous/successful out of that place? |
